Well, then I guess when their chest and back feathers will come in I should be able to see which will be pullets and which will be cockerels.I agree with you that vulture hocks are quite attractive. I do not think it is possible that roosters can be pencilled. All examples of pencilled breeds show only the female being pencilled, while the males have a solid colored back and chest. I think the only breeds with pencilled males are Campines, and some of their close relatives. I think they are pencilled because they are hen-feathered breeds.
I think that means the chick that my silkie is raising will be a pullet. It looks like her chest will be pencilled. First picture is from last friday, second is from today. I will take updated pictures this friday.
