It’s a beautiful day here in AZ. Warm enough for shorts and tank top, the house is open and the ceiling fans are on. We did some weeding and watering today, it’s easy to get help when you dangle cash in front of Aiden! The duck pools are clean and full and I transplanted an Arabian lilac today. The carrots, herbs and squash are all coming along nicely and the lemon tree and lavender are happily blooming. One the lilac grows up, it’s a fast grower, I’m going to prune as a tree to provide shade for the duck pool and move it to the far corner of the yard near the compost pile. Having it next to the patio encourages them to stop up there too much and it’s a mess! I put one of the kiddie pools out by the lemon tree so hopefully they’ll spend more time out that way until we get a lean to set up for shade out there. Ants are in season again so I’ve got bait to put out. Also need to set out the fly traps and find some strips to put in the duck house too. All the lovely bugs come with the nice weather, boo! Here’s a few pics from the garden today, forgot to mention the sage is comin back after transplant also. I love the smell when I brush the plant on my way by so hopefully it’ll be out of it’s protective cage soon.

Thanks so much Rene! I’m so happy that many things are surviving even though a few have died off. No strawberries but I’ve never had luck with them. I still have squash and a luffa plant too so it’s all good. Your weather is just about perfect! Do you have plans for today?

There's always something in the garden that doesn't do well or survive. Your yard does look great!
Right now I'm a golf widow...hubs is playing in the first tournament of the year. So, I'm kind of kicking back listening to some music & enjoying some uninterrupted BYC time. When he gets home, I'm not exactly sure what we will do first. We need to redo some stuff for the chickens & rabbits before we head to Oklahoma on Tuesday & we also have stuff to move from the kitchen, so we can get started on the new floor tile when we get home! I would like to go ahead and take out the sink cabinet, move the fridge and stove and rip out the rest of the old floor, but I don't think OS would appreciate it, so maybe I'll be nice and wait! :D

Things have improved much with the younger ducks although they still don’t eat out of my hand. That’s ok. They don’t avoid me nearly as much and are much more inclined to follow the Runners lead regardless. Fig is often the last one in at night so she doesn’t get peas or whatever is in the bowl. I’ve started giving her a few from my hand on her way in so she gets a few. She’s such a character! I think she might be my favorite but don’t tell the others! The big girls are still molting a bit and the younger girls should start. I can’t really call them the littles because you’d never know they’re two months apart now. It’s more difficult to tell the white girls apart as they’re all just about the same size. They’ve learned to forage quite well from the Runners and they all hang out together for the most part. I put one of the pools out by the lemon tree and they’re thrilled about it. I’m very happy with my decision to move everything out there since it’s next to the compost pile. They really like going through that in the morning and I think water out there will encourage that. This is all a learning journey all over again although having chickens was a good primer. Just add water for ducks and more ventilation and you’re good. I’m also quite happy with deep litter in the duck house. The tree in that yard provides a good bit of shade and the moisture the ducks provide helps it all break down nicely. Before I stirred it today there was a bit of an odor but not bad and once stirred it all went away. Right now there’s a combo of straw and pine shavings and I think the shavings help keep the straw from matting which helps with stirring things up.
