Thanks NFC! It’s nice to have some color for sure. It won’t be long and you’ll be able to get some dirt under your nails! Have you planned anything for a garden now that you’ve moved?Beautiful plants IM, love seeing green!

Things have improved much with the younger ducks although they still don’t eat out of my hand. That’s ok. They don’t avoid me nearly as much and are much more inclined to follow the Runners lead regardless. Fig is often the last one in at night so she doesn’t get peas or whatever is in the bowl. I’ve started giving her a few from my hand on her way in so she gets a few. She’s such a character! I think she might be my favorite but don’t tell the others! The big girls are still molting a bit and the younger girls should start. I can’t really call them the littles because you’d never know they’re two months apart now. It’s more difficult to tell the white girls apart as they’re all just about the same size. They’ve learned to forage quite well from the Runners and they all hang out together for the most part. I put one of the pools out by the lemon tree and they’re thrilled about it. I’m very happy with my decision to move everything out there since it’s next to the compost pile. They really like going through that in the morning and I think water out there will encourage that. This is all a learning journey all over again although having chickens was a good primer. Just add water for ducks and more ventilation and you’re good. I’m also quite happy with deep litter in the duck house. The tree in that yard provides a good bit of shade and the moisture the ducks provide helps it all break down nicely. Before I stirred it today there was a bit of an odor but not bad and once stirred it all went away. Right now there’s a combo of straw and pine shavings and I think the shavings help keep the straw from matting which helps with stirring things up.
I'm really enjoying watching your journey into duck keeping! I want some too, but I'm not ready to commit to anything new right now! I'm glad they like where you moved the water, I'm sure that will improve the cleanliness of your patio and hopefully give you less upkeep!Things have improved much with the younger ducks although they still don’t eat out of my hand. Oh wow...I love those Debby! I'm with you, I don't want to crawl around in the dirt anymore either! We're going to do raised beds for sure. I'm too old to be crawling around on my hands and knees. So that depends on when DH has time to make them for me. I figure even if he can't do much with the course opening soon, at least I can put some things in pots for now.
We really liked these stock tank planters we made for the company houses a few years ago and want to make them for the back yard here.

I remember those! You had talked about them and shared the pics and I thought they were fantastic. I understand getting down on your hands and knees ain’t easy lol. Knee pads make it easier on the knees but they don’t help you get back up for sure! I hope you’ll share pics when you get them done and planted. We're going to do raised beds for sure. Sounds good, would still like to see stuff in potsIt's probably going to be a while, so be patient! Once the golf course opens up in April, DH will be spending 95% of his time with that.
But if I get some pots planted, I'll share those in the meantime!

Tell me about it! We are not looking forward to putting in our floor tile...we might have to rig up a hoist...lol!Getting down isn't the problem, it's the getting up!![]()
