Fugly Farm

Their run is in shade. I just make sure water is changed with cold tap water. Some, not all, are panting slightly, but other than that still munching on feed, and drinking.
We will be cooling down tomorrow, and next few days.
I actually enjoy sitting in back yard, with a gentle breeze in the shade. If I had to do physical work,,,, that would be a different story.
Those evenings when one can sit outside in a T shirt are lovely. Can't say we get many of those in the UK.

It’s hot. I got Igor to help me fence off where Selene has been sitting, Connor too. None of the eggs are fertile so there’s no point. Gave the chicks something to wade in a few days ago. Today they knew what it was and went straight to it this afternoon. Storms have threatened each evening but nothing much has come of it. Temps are likely to go back to 110+ later in the week so we’re likely to break the record for highest number of days @ 110+ in a year. I think Sept 17th is the latest we’ve had temps that high, hopefully this week will be it though.

That's not the kind of record anyone wants to break IM. Hope the end of that super hot weather is gone soon.

Phoenix crows every morning now, still a youngster crow but getting stronger. He is still all black except he has a red patch on each wing and white polka dots on one feather on his neck. Still shy, but learning to follow me as I’ll make sure he gets to eat.

One of the blues is a rooster :rant

What will you do with the blue rooster IM?

I’m not sure, probably going to see if the feed store will take him. We are tired of the killing extra roosters, hence why I tried to get pullers from them. I hope four girls will be enough for Phoenix.

I bet he'll be a handsome guy. Maybe you could post in the buy-sell-trade forum and find someone in AZ that wants him.

Thanks for the suggestion Debby. If you look at all the unanswered threads here they’re almost all “Rooster needs a good home “ so I think it’s a waste of time. I thought about it a though.

Attila is broody 🙄 I think they somehow moved the fake eggs from one nest to another. How the heck do they do that?! I’m going to kick her out of there today.

Henna is laying again, I found a bunch of her eggs but then they dropped out of my pajama sack :gig

I opened up the door on the shade garden to let the littles out. They came out onto the pavers but that’s as far as they got. I put some metal plant markers on each side of the door so it’s open enough for them to get out, but the bigs will have to work a bit to get in and pigeons can’t just fly in/out.
