I was just curious what the difference was between a regular ole full crop versus an impacted crop. My 5 week-old chicks have really large chests, but they are acting completely normal....?

What's the difference?

Impacted crops don't empty. At night when they sleep the crop should empty, check 1st thing in the morning and they should be flat. You can feel the crop and feel if it is hard as a rock or if you can move the stuff around. If they are impacted they will become sick and withdrawn. I would guess in about 2-3 days you would see signs that they are huddled up somewhere.
