Today is National Poultry Day. Vegans or sensitive souls, please don't look. The chickens (and the dog) are captivated by bits flying off the chopping block as J readies some raw, um, chicken, (store-bought, not one of the flock) that will be dog and cat food. Dog & chickens always get to clean the chopping block after. No worries, the block is dedicated to outside raw pet food use only.

Pretty grim looking, yes? But it's not, really. These free-rangers come across 2 acres if they hear someone hit the chopping block.

Thank you, I love them all. Started with Wyandottes, Silver & Gold less than 3 years ago, but then ordered 8 day-olds of 8 different breeds, letting a broody raise them, and now I'm REALLY crazy about chickens. I love the variety pack!
