fuzzi's Chicken Journal

Those are lovely aren't they!

I do wear those type of fake/croc/clogs for chores and around the house too. I have a pair just for chickens, the other for banging about. Lined ones might work for banging around in cold weather since that's in the shoe itself, but I make a mess with chicken chores, I can see them being grungy quickly.
PLUS. It's terrible, really is. I don't like socks, no I really do not like socks, so yeah...bare feet in the crocs works just fine, even in the dead of winter.

And yes, I do own socks, boots and sneakers. If there's a lot of snow or during a Vortex, I will begrudgingly put them on...😝
I'm the opposite, I wear socks 24/7, probably because my feet get cold.

I have some plastic clogs and old slip-on shoes that work well in wet conditions, and I don't care if they get dirty.

My feet do get cold, but it has to be reallllly cold before I'm willing to put on socks LOL

I do like fuzzy slippers in the house though, I'm not completely insane🤣

Ditto this! Wearing my fuzzy slippers as we speak!

The weather turned, is much colder. I even saw my breath when I took Cleo out for her evening walk.

Earlier, everyone's excited about fresh straw!

It's not freezing yet, but I set up the cold weather auxillary waterer anyway.

What did you do to me?!?
Am I mistaking this for a quote from Young Frankenstein, by any chance?! 🤣

I have a large water fount in one area, that thing will freeze, it's about time to put it up for the winter.
What does your winter setup look like? My nipple waterer bucket sprung a leak a few weeks ago. When I inspected it, I found a hairline crack in the plastic in one of the drilled holes, probably from temp fluctuations combined with an imperfectly drilled hope in the first place. I do like the rubber bucket and insulated tire idea!

I seem to have worn boots, with socks most of my life. In fact, I bought my first pair of shoes a couple of months ago. :D

I do not like socks or shoes. I went barefooted at home all my life until I started getting older.

Now I can not tolerate it as well. Still do not like street shoes. 🤣 At home you will find me inside with my house slippers or outside in my chicken boots (Sloggers).
The chicken boots wear so good! They have a removable, washable inner sole. Remove it and you can wash the boots inside and out. All types of colors and designs, even chickens.
One day , last minute had to run to Lowes. Walking in the store I looked down and there I was in my chicken boots.
So comfy I forgot I had them on.:gig

I gave in...went to the farmers' market this morning, bought two dozen eggs from supposedly free range/no antibiotics chickens. Seller was a Good Ol' Boy, and had great delight in telling me about his chickens, peacocks, and guineas. Those should get me through Thanksgiving.

I need six eggs for the pumpkin pies, alone.
