fuzzi's Chicken Journal

Pics
Just got an email, the chick crumbles are ready for pickup at TSC. I'll do that after work today.

TSC does have Nutri Drench in stock, which I was thinking of getting since these will be shipped chicks. They don't have any Sav-a-chick electrolytes available.

However, the point may be moot. I only have one chick waterer, and none of the "farm" stores have them available until next week. :(

PND would be good to have on hand or if your TSC carries vitamins/electrolytes like in the photo below or durvet brand, that's what I'd use.
Instructions are for stock tanks, so I just add about 1/4 tsp per gallon of water and provide it to chicks for a couple of days.

Yikes, yet another supply chain issue!
When I stopped by TSC I went inside and walked over to the chicken supply aisle, where they did have small waterer trays, the type that attaches to a canning jar. I think it's for quail, but it should work.

Websites aren't always accurate...

Brooder is ready!

I have a folded shower curtain on top to keep the others from 💩 on the chicks, and can unfold it to cover the brooder side that is next to the coop wall (if we get rain with wind).

I'll add food and water once the chicks arrive.

Cockerels are being graded on their behavior.

Blue: has been polite lately. Likes to preen and nap on my lap.
Purple: polite, friendly, not pushy, likes my lap

Green, Red are standoffish
Arby has been friendly, lap sitter, more standoffish lately
Purple/yellow varies
Purple/red was aggressive towards me yesterday when I pushed him back with my hand, he stood up tall, flapped wings and grabbed my hand with his beak! He got totally restrained in my lap until he relaxed. I'm watching him.(he used to be friendly)
Blue/green? Not much interaction. Hoping it's a pullet.

Blondie and Red/green are probably pullets.
