I am a fan of white chickens. So crisp looking when clean. But not at my own farm of course. Lavenders with their scruffy feathers are nightmarish, and whites can only be a little better because of their good feather quality, they'll still get stained.
Not a fan of Bresse though.
(Or GreenFire Farms)
I keep all my white birds (Sultans and Sussex) in indoors (a barn with clean flooring). What don't you like about Greenfire farms? It is a dream of mine to one day order from them :p

Kind of a fad site. They don't focus on a couple breeds and perfect them, like a proper standard breeder. Plus they find lots of "rare" made up breeds. Just because it exists doesn't mean we need it in America. Why would we need another black French breed, it's never going to become popular. Or Swedish Flower Hens. I just think they are charging too much for something you could get by mixing up a couple breeds.

Yea I guess, eh? I doesn't make sense to buy a bunch of birds for $$$$$$ that you can make yourself :p

Hmph. Do Bresse ACTUALLY taste any different from other chickens? That website is incredibly vague about why they are different from other breeds haha. Seems like a pretty convenient set up for a $400 dinner.

“Bresse belong to a genetically distinct chicken breed that metabolize feed in a certain way, distribute certain types of muscle across their frames in a certain pattern and at certain rates, and produce meat with a unique and distinct flavor.”

I also don't like Greenfire Farms.
Namely because they don't sell true to form birds. I've heard far too many stories about expensive Ayam Cemanis from GF that have been mixed breed, or not even fully black.
Their quality is dirt, to say the least.

See what I mean? Their quality is s***

Yup. Real breeders probably will never make a profit out of their birds in a lifetime, they invest so much into working with them. GreenFire Farms clearly wants profit, which isn't terribly wrong, but the quality of the birds is stepped back because they aren't sacrificing everything for their birds. :p
