German Shepherd had surgery Need your guys help warning gross pics

Talk to a different vet and see what they quote you. Even if it is around the same amount you should just leave them!!! They don't deserve your business and they obviously don't care about your dog.

That's a tough situation - they've sort've got you in the corner now. If you don't pay them your poor boy will suffer (and I'm worried about infection, etc). Any other vet is going to charge because they didn't do the initial surgery. I think it's really crappy what that vet is doing to you. I've had dogs go through extensive surgeries and generally follow-ups were just the cost of the office fee/visit. I do think they are responsible for this and you shouldn't have to pay.. but really, what can you do now?

I'm not a vet so I don't know if he can do okay without it being fixed up. If he were my dog I'd just have to swallow my anger and let them take care of it and then when he's better I'd be finding another vet.

I hope it works out for you - he looks like such a sweet boy! I just love German Shepherds. My thoughts will be with you!

Call your local papers. Keep all your paper work! If you have any way to record what they are saying to you do it. That is it is beyond ridicules… when my dog got fixed she got an infection and the only thing I had to pay beyond the surgery cost was 10$ for the meds. The whole thing cost 160$. I did not have to pay for any follow up visits.

I agree with both of these things! They botched the job, and it is not your responsibility to pay for something that should have been done right the first time!

I wouldn't blame you one bit for not paying. In the least feel free to take your time paying. It's really sad to see how much vets get away with charging. I'm all for paying them a fair rate but a lot of what they ask for is ridiculous.

Please keep us updated on your boy! I'm definitely interested in finding out what that mass was.

I cant wait for him to get home in 2 more hrs

Pray that these stitches stay this time.... I will keep you all update Thank you all for caring so much. You all helped me through this

I understand that you are frustrated with the situation but it looks like your dog's mass was located in a tricky spot. It is very close to if not directly over the hip joint from what I can see in your pictures. This is one of the hardest places to get sutures to hold. You essentially have to limit the dog's movements until the sutures are removed. Do not allow him to stretch that back leg too much: no jumping up on you, no jumping onto beds or couches or into cars/trucks and anything else that is going to extend the hip joint and pull at the skin in that area. You may have noticed that the sutures did in fact look loose at first, I can't say for sure, but I believe that is commonly done over joint areas to allow some leeway for the natural tension that is put on the skin in that area.

I hope that some of this information helps! And good luck!
