Google search feature doesn't work on my system

Is the problem that you want your Google Chrome browser to open up initially on the Google home page? if so, click the little wrench icon on the upper right, go to options, basic, and under On Startup select open the home page, under home page select "open this page" and type http://www.google.com in that box. Then further down under search, pick Google as the search engine.

Does that help?

Off the subject of Chrome--but Gargoyle, your links in signature are very great. I miss the quick jump to poster's pages from the old BYC. Love your page and beautiful chickens. I took a page from your book (sort of) and put links to some of my pages in signature. Great idea. Not as elegant as yours but still servicable. Thanks.

Love your links...blue is beautiful. Not to hijack this thread -- apology to OP---but putting links in signature restores some of the functionality the upgrade removed. ;O)

For the links in the signature, go to your profile, make sure you're in the "community profile" tab. scroll all the way down to signature, select "edit signature text".
At the bottom you'll see a drop down box labeled "show off stuff in your signature". Click that and you'll see your albums listed.

Then scroll back up, click where it says "community profile" and you'll see a bunch of boxes where you can enter stuff like your location, real name, whatever; you don't have to fill any of that out, of course. The last one in that section is "my coop" and you can enter the URL to your BYC page, or any other URL you want (if you have a site that you want to link to, you can put it there). That will appear under your avatar; note how it works in mine.

Yes and no. WHen BYC changed platform , right term?, the ability to search thru the old threads became available again. It was not immediately obvious to me because I had been without the words " google search" for more than 6 months. Probably more like 8 mo.

On my system Chrome still is not acceptable to Google. and I still get msg 404 not found. But I can still do searches. Go figure. If I use IE, Google accepts my computer communication.

I'm not tech savvy; but I can learn.
