We have returned from the airport and the last 4 dewlaps are awaiting departure in the morning for Florida.

for their safe journey. We are declaring this rescue mission officially completed with the tally as follows: 100 geese removed from California property; 31 geese to John Metzer; 69 brought home with me; 52 placed (with 1 tragic loss in transit); and 17 who found a permanent home with our group (including 6 africans, blind girl, and two deformed adult greys).

Anyone know a trick for getting goose mouthes open? Baby girls meds are all oral, and while we've finished the three days of anti-inflamatory, there are still several days of antibiotic left. We have the most aweful time getting that goose mouth open. Seriously, this stuff must taste really bad.

It takes two of us, and several minutes, to barely get enough to fit the tip of the syringe in, which means she's not getting every drop. And, she won't open enough to get the whole syringe in, for a nice deep insertion.

Two hands, sit on her back, knees holding her tight, pull her head back to your chest, one hand on the top and one on the bottom to open her bill. If she is not working with you it will be a task, but can be done using some muscle behind it. We dose the meds onto a piece of bread and give it. (example: deworming the chickens) If she isnt eating though that wont help you.


Suns up here, its cold out and my blanket is holding me hostage on the couch.

Hoping the USPS gets its act together today and scans the geese somewhere. First time ever I have had birds not scanned at check in.
