Got bite by my cockerel

You'll need to be very aware of him from this point on. He will fly up to your face and try to spur you. Or come at you from behind. You'll want to carry a stick, or broom handle in with you to keep him at bay (if you plan on keeping him). Mine went to freezer camp.
I beg to differ. Mine does not charge me, and he left a scar.
 
Take it as you will but here's my 2 cents:

I have two aggressive game cockerels. One had scarred me. He lives on, with his hens, in confinement. He has not even so much as challenged me once after that first bite.

The second is.... not a favorite bird. He is convinced every male bird that he can see must die, and is known to pick bloody fights through the wire with them. When I walk past WITH FOOD he mock charges my feet. Without fail. He is outside 24/7 as hawk bait. He gets swatted on the daily (never too hard). No change in behavior. If he didn't do a damned good job of keeping my hens protected, he'd have been axed by now.
NOTE: His behavior is exclusive to me. He does NOT attack children.

To each their own.
