I called one of the local mills in the area and talked with someone about buying DE. The lady I talked with told me yes they can order it. She gets it and feed to her chickens also. I called back talked with the owner he actually had a bag in. I asked if it was food grade and he said yes it was. I had my husband pick it up. So last night I was reading the bag. It does not say food grade on the front at all. It has Celaton EP Minerals an Eagalpicher Co. Reno Nevada on the Front. The back however has direction on feeding to livestock. The usual 2% to the dry weight of feed. So unsure I looked the company up on line. They sell DE for diffrent things, filter, ag, livestock, and things like this. My question is does anyone use this brand? How am I supposed to know if it actually food grade? Yes there are direction for feeding, but I still does not call it's self food grade? There was an 800 number but of corse the aren't open on weekends.
