Granny's gone and done it again

I found the Kincade Fire on Calfires, says 10K acres, 0% contained. Located in the aptly named Burned Mountain area, I guess fires there have been fairly common historically. It's ugly, started at 4:26 this morning, the update was from 3:56 PM.
Sounds right except the start time. 11pm pacific time. I was texting my friend about it then... concerned her in laws might be in the evacuation zone. It was on the evening news. Glad it's not bigger, but 0% contained sucks. It's a steep, rugged area.

Hi all, I dont know if I said good morning or not. That was a few hrs ago. I didnt get to bed til 4am. Worry dont let me sleep. Robert is fine. He said it hurts when he chugs water. Room temp. His worker is exhausted and I decided to go w/ them today to the gun range. The sign said no smoking so I grabbed my ashtray and promised to not let any get on the ground. LOL Imagine 50 cans of biscuits opening all at once in a tin can. I was a wreck. Soo glad to leave there. I guess everyone else was glad to see the "screaming " lady leave as well. I found some beautiful moss covering a stump and asked the game warden if I could take some. He said no, you cant take anything out of the park. Not even rocks. We are finally home and my feet are on fire. I managed to get twigs and an inch worm in my hair.
The moss is soaking 2 deep in my cake pan so I have plenty to do what I want with it. We also hit wal marts but I rode a cart /chair for that part. Bulls-eye Bob shot even better then last time.

I know you just got here, but I was just getting ready to go out for evening chicken duties. I let the Seramas out today... got to make sure they get back in and give them their kale. That little spotted hen you like... she LOVES her kale! I'll be back in a bit. :hugs

Ok

So cool you have something from your great grandma. I've read that just about any left over fabric was used for batting, especially if the quilt maker didn't have the funds to buy new materials. Original idea was to use up bits and pieces anyway. Hard to tell what it is... cotton something. Sacking, old blankets, any old material was used. Bits and pieces!

There is a beautiful old storage chest type piece of furniture up at the farm. It is loaded with all sorts of doilies, blankets, edged towels and stuff, all crocheted by my great grandmother. No idea what we are supposed to do with it all. Some of the pieces are really neat... ruffles and flowers, all done with cotton thread (or string?). She used some tiny hooks! My grandma said her mother barely even had to look while she crocheted. Like a machine!

Tatting? Send it to me!

I'll put poor Penelope up against Spike! Moth eaten would be a BIG improvement.

Some wind is good, it makes electricity. But as always one can have too much of a good thing!

Looks like woven blankets to me. Must be a pretty hefty quilt with that amount of batting.

The original weighted blanket. I think of it as the flu blanket, because it’s so warm and nice on achy bodies and you sweat a fever straight out.

Hahahaa, Pretty sure I did leave the inch worm there. Robert said MOM, You got a little caterpillar in your hair ! I might take the twigs back but Im keeping the moss. hahaa
I wasn't going to say anything about the moss.

Tatting? Send it to me!
I don't know tatting... it's all crochet.
