the fence get finished on Monday and the head gate attached, then regular gates on Friday and the yak drive over to that paddock to settle down a little before the rodeo the following week. NEW earings for the cows and calves, pours, hair collection.

any cow that doesn't calve in the next 2 years is dinner. and it would be 3 or 4 for either of this years crop of calves. Eat the "rejects" and mean ones first.

I finally had luck with broody Buster Posey taking in 3 chicks after trying 3 other times with different broody hens. Trick seems to be to wait until they are naturally through their cycle. Buster had been sitting longer than 4 weeks, took the chicks in the daytime with no fuss, and proceeded to keep sitting for 3 more days. She took them out to eat, but was mostly sitting for them. Guess it was her way of doing lock down!

Ouch! I just bashed myself in the ear and face and knocked my glasses off. Dang mosquito doing that buzzy-whine noise in my ear. Good news is my reflexes are lightening fast.

Bad news is my nose hurts from smashing my glasses into it and I will probably have bites all over my forehead in the morning.
