I culled the other one. It was a mess, not improving. Culling was traumatic. I need a better method. I took pics but they're too gross to share.

I used this method. Still terrible and not easy for sure, but no mess and they pass quickly.

That's how I did both of mine but I rolled them in a paper towel or wet wipe. Didn't end up with any fluids on me.

the babies are hard. I use the things you cut limbs with . the hand held kind or a pair of scissors .

thats a good idea. I rather use a tool then my hands though. I would think the towel would comfort them too.

That's a good idea. The first "whip" I was clean, but I was afraid it wasn't dead. So I did it several more times, and that's when things got messy.

I thought about it, but was afraid they wouldn't be sharp enough. I broke my best pair and need new ones.

You know the old broody question of "can chickens count?" Apparently Ruby can. If she gets more than 6 eggs in her nest she always kills one (has happened twice) and each time it's been one of the growing eggs, not the new one.
