It was glued and struggling. Oh well. I think it'll be fine. If it's not closed by supper I'll try to tie it off.


I culled the other one. It was a mess, not improving. Culling was traumatic. I need a better method. I took pics but they're too gross to share.

DH said to snap its neck. I ended up with blood and slime all over me.

the babies are hard. I use the things you cut limbs with . the hand held kind or a pair of scissors .

That's how I did both of mine but I rolled them in a paper towel or wet wipe. Didn't end up with any fluids on me.


That's a good idea. The first "whip" I was clean, but I was afraid it wasn't dead. So I did it several more times, and that's when things got messy.

I thought about it, but was afraid they wouldn't be sharp enough. I broke my best pair and need new ones.
 
You know the old broody question of "can chickens count?" Apparently Ruby can. If she gets more than 6 eggs in her nest she always kills one (has happened twice) and each time it's been one of the growing eggs, not the new one. :rant
