Oh, yes, and the honeysuckle --- I absolutely love the air in the morning and evening all summer long - we have masses of them growing up through the woods at the back of the property and walking out to the barn and chicken coop is heaven!

love the honeysuckle !! and more then one use too . since i was but 12 yrs. and being broke , it was my perfume crush the blooms between your wrists and done. or when you craved that little sugar boost. remember that ol mare?

any way, i would pluck the flower from its little nest and it would have a hole all the way through and this is the end i would put in my mouth and it never failed to release a drop of its sweet nectar. poor humming birds never stood a chance.

I remember doing that as a kid! Loved the honeysuckle. And the fruit from the passion vine LOL we would throw it at each other and it would burst on contact. Honeysuckle is one of the things I miss about living in Florida; we don't have it here. Miss being in the country. Grew up outside Nashville. Memories. Sounds like you are getting along a little better, Granny? I hope so.

LOL - yes! When I was a child my granny lived in town and the lot next to her was owned by a couple that used the lot as their flower garden (their house sat across the street) - sweetest elderly couple - Mr. Paul taught me how to get a sweet treat from the honey suckle and probably regretted that from that day forward as I was constantly "grazing" from granny's side of the fence, doubt he had thought about how much little girls like sweet treats.

Have a good day Granny! My Hibiskiss.

the dr. appt today was ok by itself but i fell twice. first time swapping chairs not too much damage, the second time, i made it home, all the way to the front door. as i was trying to jump the jamb i busted the butt. twisted my wrist and bruised, scraped my knee, landed on my cast and turned my toe under the cast. it is purple as well and swollen nice and tight in there. despite it all mrsc, I do feel better. lol what are your guys thoughts on seremas? i have been made an offer on some by a man who judges them and has raised them for 10 yrs. is there any money in there? i will have to run the heat lamp all winter as i was told here. what ya think???

I really like the Seramas! They come in all different colors, lay tiny little eggs, and go broody pretty regularly, so you can hatch out more if you want to. The best part is the friendly personalities, and if you are getting them from a breeder/judge, they should have very good temperaments. The downside is they fly really well, are hawk bait, and do need the heat in the winter. Oh, one other great thing is they are so tiny, you can fit 4 or 5 in the space of one large chicken. Doubt that you can make much money with them. I don't know anyone who profits from their chickens except big hatcheries. You could probably sell enough to cut your feed costs.

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better despite busting your butt today. I have lots of padding on mine, so that's the best place to land when I tip over.

I have been so bummed this week because my 3 new pullets, that I drove 4 hours round trip to pick up, have come down with some respiratory problem. Hopefully the rest of my birds won't get it. The new ones were in my garage for a few days before I moved them up to my sister's, but I still could have spread the problem to my coops before I realized that there was a serious problem. The breeder, who is very conscientious, didn't know he had sick birds until I told him about it. He has culled and sent some off for testing, so I am anxiously waiting to find out what we're facing. Think I'm going to have to cull the little ones, something I haven't had to do yet.

Thanks Granny, I bought them at Home Depot it says on the tag to bring them inside for the cold weather. No more falling down! Rest and heal up. Glad your feeling better.
