May another Granny join in?
Decided to come in from chores because the wind is kicking up a bit much and thought I would wander around on here a bit and discovered you folks (Hi Dawg! he's my hero). Our trees are in peak color and everything is glowing but won't be for long. Nice freakishly warm morning (it's in the 60's!) but the temp is supposed to start dropping any time now as a cold front slides in and it's back to normal. I'm ready for it. The southern folks can keep the heat, I'm 100% with twisted-acres-farm! We just might see a smattering of snow with the rain on Thursday and that's fine with me.

Ok, enough clucking away. Think I'll just slip into my rocker out on the back porch, watch the girls get their "bloomers" blown up as they rototill my herb garden for me, and follow along for a bit.
Hi Chicki!

Welcome! We have a cold front coming as well! It's going to be only 93 tomorrow! 101 today!

Tell us about your critters and stuff?

It's a different way to stream internet info. Data allows internet access through the phone's 3G (or 4G) system, and your cell service provider usually charges for data or places limits on it. Being able to use wifi turns your phone into a little computer, no 3/4G needed, so no data used. Maybe not all phones can use wifi.

My boys don't watch tv any more, but web surf on their phones constantly. We'd run out of data on our family plan in one day if it weren't for the wifi at home.

Yep - wifi is a lifesaver on data usage! We use it at home and I *was* using it at work but moved to a new office about 5 feet further down the hall and now there is no signal...... DD is on our plan too - she has wifi in the apartment and all over campus so it's only when she's traveling that she has to use any actual data. The biggest saver for us on wifi/data use is for DH - he is constantly doing something on his phone, if not for him having wifi here at the house and at work he would use all our allowance just for himself!

I've never seen one, so doubt it. At least not the huge ones. Biggest spiders here, other than garden orbs, are wolf spiders. Black widows are here too.

My mom was great for learning about nature. Really interested in what was around us and we spent many evenings sitting at the kitchen table looking through field guides to identify things. We saw all kinds of critters, including a nest of turkey vultures. Talk about fugly! My mom would put meat trimmings up on the hill so mama vulture had it easy!

Once she found a black widow spider, which were rare on our place since it was north facing and cooler (no rattle snakes there either). So the exotic black widow, along with her egg sac, got put in a glass jar so we could study it. Mom punched a few holes for air and put Ms.Spider up on a shelf in the kitchen. Couple days later, Mom, there's little bugs crawling all over the shelves in here! The eggs had hatched, and there were hundreds of baby widows crawling off to seek their fortunes! We kids got shooed out of the house and mom cleaned them all up, but it was a couple of hours before we could go back in. Although the words were never spoken, that was one of those Don't tell your father moments.

I can only imagine! Bet she was proud of herself! Maybe a monarch catty would have been better to study? I raised quite a few last year, it was fascinating. Black widows love it where I live. we have the wolf spiders here too.

BIG UGLY! I let them all be except in the dog areas. I think the vultures in Fla were turkey ones. So ugly!

butterflies and praying mantis over spiders any day for studying. Spiders are great, OUTSIDE.......love watching them build a web and seeing all the varieties they come in.

Well if I'm seeing right my roo is doing his job. I see the white speck on the yolks with the circle around it. He chooses to stay in the small coop with his favorite girl but as soon as I let him out, he about breaks his neck running to the other coop so I can let the other girls out. As a teen I would've loved to be him. :lau twist is probably still like that. He did say once he's up for the day, he stays up.
