mine are molting..right now they are free loaders..maybe one egg a week...

I haven't gotten an egg in two months from my hens older then a year. Why molting, why?

Forgot to reply. Oops.

None of my Easter pullets have laid yet. :barnie I keep rattling the gumbo pot at them, but no luck.

What freeloaders, disobeying the pot! The pullet I hatched in the middle of May started laying a couple weeks ago. My bantams seem to start laying before my standards, almost every time.

Finally made it home. The yard is quiet. Not sure where the chickens are...?

Was it Danna who said I'd be pooped by supper time? Because that's the truth. I'm coming to clean out my van while the kids play, and then maybe baths and early bed time for everyone tonight. :fl

How much run would I need Jane. 240 ft? If I went with 12 chickens would that give them enough room if the had to stay in the coop a day or two?[/quote

Plenty of room. Need to put the others together during the winter. No heat lamp needed in the south. They are the cause of most coop fires.
