I have bad allergies as well, with the chicks in the basement the return was sucking up all the dust

that would be a good idea to have duct  work cleaned.i hadn't thought of that.
This house has always been dusty, but now it is horrible. I can't imagine how much dust is in the duct work. When the furnace runs it blows it everywhere as does the AC.

It was a gigantic mess, I had to vacuum the whole basement, the dust & dander covered everything. Mind you, mine isn't a finished basement. I will never, ever do that again.

my duct work is in my attic,,vents are on the ceiling..did you have them in cages or just turned loose..that's a lot of chicks..

I have a Rainbow vacuum cleaner. It filters the air through water. I can suck up plaster dust with that thing.

mother had a rainbow they are great..
Rainbow vacuums are great, I have a Meile, it was a great vacuum until we did some dry wall work in the house. Even though I manually got rid of most of the dust, the little bit that I sucked up has clogged the motor. Hasn't worked well since.

Thanks everyone on the compliments. I've got a solar powered fountain pump on the way, so I can have running water.
That will be awesome, make sure you share pictures when you get it up & running

I remember those vacuums. The salesman vacuumed the bed and that's all it took fir my mom to fork out the money. Amazing what those things pick up.

that sounds like a terrible mess you had too. I don't blame you fir never doing that again.

I had them in big wood brooder boxes that hubby got from work. They were the top & bottom of a huge packing crate. Just put hardware cloth on the tops & we were good to go.
