Still not the same in my book and then some one else has to work that day. Maybe I am just old fashioned. Holiday's were for family and friends and meals were home made and made with love.

not the same but if your not able to stand in the kitchen for 2 days It sure sounds nice to me. Bought a turkey dinner once from a krogers and it was supposed to be cooked . it wasnt even cleaned . had eggs in it I kept cooking and cooking with a house full of family and guests and my oven had went out.

when that song first came out (the original) I was a little and I heard her say that was the nastyist song she had ever heard so of course I made a point to learn the whole song . LOL (my mom) LOL

but that makes for special memories latter in life.

Funny how memories work. My grandma would absolutely kill herself for a glorious Norman Rockwell Christmas dinner. Ham AND turkey, all the fixings, all the desserts, on and on. When I married and wanted to start my own traditions, I started doing meat pies at Christmas. That was always our Christmas Eve meal because it was grab-and-go, then we had leftovers for while we were waiting on the big Christmas dinner.

So all the work of the meal, and my favorite part was the thing she made just to hold us over. Poor sweet thing.

thats sweet camping . and see ! thats what your missing w/ mom meat pies. What I want to know is how GM and MOM could take an old wore out hen or roo and fry it tender and so good ?
