I am not even close to being like that. I hear a baby hatching. woke me up this am. mixed polish, so are the other 3 that is left.

Morning y'all. I'm already at TSC today. Jar lids aren't cutting it for the babies' water anymore. And I need pine shavings.

I candled last night, only one clear. An EE egg. So my roo is having no trouble doing his job. ;) And the other 49 eggs are just rocking right along. I accidentally had a marans egg upside down, can I fix that? It was just day 7 last night. I put it on the top layer, on its side, so maybe it can get back into position.

So sorry to hear about you troubles thank God your barn didn't burn down. I'm one of those who don't use lights except for my tortoise and I turn that off at night.
Congrats on the new peep! Hope the other three are right behind it.

Wow gone for a couple days & so much has happened. I had a very enjoyable weekend with my 12 yr old granddaughter and her 15 month old brother. This granny is pooped, my back is screaming from lugging around a baby and all the floor time this weekend. Now if I could just figure out how to get my grandson to sleep better at night when he's at my house I would be in heaven. They are such a blessing, I love them to the moon & back.

Granny so sorry to hear you had a fire and lost your little feather friends, but so glad that it didn't take your whole pole barn. Frustrated that bad things keep happening to good people. That old saying visits again "what doesn't kill ya, makes you stronger" Dang hardships, I want a Easy Button.

I have 6 more of my babies leaving to their new home this week. That will leave me with 5. One is definitely a roo, but hopefully the other 4 are pullets. The chicks daddy is actually at deaths door, currently trying to nurse him back. He is the most docile bird I have ever owned, just love him. Praying hevpull thru.

Here's to hoping everyone has a great day. It is cold here but the sun is trying to be out.

you don't use pine shavings with the peeps do you??? That can cause pasty butt also as they will peck/eat anything when little.

I threw away one appliance extension cord , 2 of those 6 outlet plugs. they were melted to each other. 2 of the red light bulbs had busted in the base. Because i have no choice, I used the needle nose pliers to remover the light and put new smaller watt bulbs in. I unplugged any unnecessarys. my seramas need more heat then other babies. the baby in the house that pipped this morning died as well.

You need industrial grade heavy duty extension cords. DO NOT use your house extension cords. You can order lower wattage heat lights online.

Sylvania 175 watt heat bulb. There are also 125 watt and 100 watt bulbs available online too.

What is wrong with your rooster?
I'm not certain, he just stopped eating. Just in a matter of days, he has lost a lot of weight. A week ago I maintenance wormed my flock with it being spring and I had noticed a round worm in some poo last week on the poop board. When I picked him up a week ago his weight seemed fine, but he was acting a little off. Since that time I have been finding a lot of very wet Bright green poo under him in the morning on the poop board. Dummy me googled it and lots of mention of kidney damage and bright green poop. Wasn't until a couple of days ago that he turned for the worst. When I picked him up he was a bag of bones. Googled again and this time it referenced posts made on BYC and green poop & starvation. What an idiot I've been, probably will cost me a really fine rooster. He is a White Chantacler, sweet as pie, was really big before this illness, but is the most gentle bird I have ever had.

Praying he's going to make it. He has been eating and drinking some these past 2 days, but very weak. I hope I caught it in time & that no perminant damage has been done. This is a picture of him taken this past summer.
