my new seramas are beautiful. they are frizzled sand i guess i cant really say a color. one dark one lighter. like different shades of brown maybe. I used my grocery money on the and my gas in the van. waiting on friday, it seems a very long way off. low on smokes and a kid that will only eat certain foods makes for a bad day. went out to process the legbar today, put him up last night but i didnt follow through. Last time ,and only time i ate one it was yuck.

Yea, the only meat on a legbar is the breast and the thighs. The wings are skin and bone and the leg is puny beyond belief (compared to Rocks or RIR). The legbars make scrumptious chicken salad. The hens are a little meatier.

I have a sick Leghorn in the garage. Her huge comb is all floppy and shrunken. She's got a dirty rear end, so is getting some yogurt to eat. Will need a bath soon, but today is too windy and cool (for me, I don't want to get wet!) This is the 3rd time she's had this. Thrush I guess. She's 3 yrs and doesn't lay any more. The only thing worse than a freeloader is a freeloader who requires extra work!

The crockpot makes them ALL tender. When I butcher roosters, I skin them. After they are processed they sit in the frige for a out 4 days. Then I freeze them. I let them thaw in the refrigerator then throw them in the crockpot.

Wishing your hen sounds like she has fungus in her digestive tract. You can treat her with Monistat orally, if you want to save her.

Watermelon, So very sorry about your bunny, Tom. I hope he did not suffer too much. It is always so hard to lose a friend.

    Northern Ohio,
Thank you everyone. The vet gave me three options. To try to operate, To cope with it, or to let him go. He is not a good surgery canadate, thats out. He also doesn't seem like he WANTS to die. I decided to try to cope with it and when his time comes, he will not suffer. I also don't think he is going to be with me with me for long, so he gets anything he wants, starawberries, pets, whatever. I will make this time last, I have made peace with the fact he is going to die, I am ready.

I just got back from a poultry owners seminar and I learned so mutch. I am going to call it a night, good night, sweet dreams, and warm fuzzies.

Watermelon, so so sorry about Tom. It is so hard. We just went through something similar with our beloved dog, had her on comfort care for a month or so after we found out that she had pancreatic cancer. We put her down a few weeks ago. I'm still heartbroken. Thinking of you and Tom.
