i have a different polish rooster i am having problems with. he is so cute !! well, i guess he is polish

he has a horn. it sticks up just before where a comb would start. my other polish dont have that and he is white and black barred but very softly. anyway a lump came up under his eye almost over night. it is very hard like bone. it grew for about 2 days then stopped but its been there now for a couple weeks. no symptoms at all except it is blocking his vision and a little head shaking. he is smaller then my others and was not took care of when i got him as an adult. i have heard that eye infections are difficult to treat. he had the same antibiotics as all the others. so i got a lg. gage needle yesterday to see. it was extremely hard to insert and i got nothing except a drop of blood where the needle went in so i put so antibiotic eye ointment on and in the eye and sent him to bed. i am wondering if it may be bone? even a tumor or cyst wouldnt be that hard would it?

well, thank you!! thought i was talking to myself again. quite common now a days. lol im afraid i cant post pics. no matter how much i would love to. i even bought myself a camera for Christmas !! just cant figure it out. i am waiting for someone to come over and do a show and tell with me. its the only way i will remember. i can read about it all day (i have) and it dont help.

How do his eyes look? Any discharge from the eyes or the nostrils? And his poos? Are they normal or are they abnormal and smelly? I can't quite imagine what could be wrong with him if it's a hard spot. If it was softer and squishy, I would be inclined to think that he had a respiratory infection or a sinus infection.

A chicken with a horn? Does that make it a unicorn?

hahaha, possibly. maybe i should make a wish. i did have sickness in my coop. they are all better. i see nothing except the lump. it seems like it might be pushing the eye away a bit. not sure about that. he acts like a normal roo acts. unlike some i have !!

it was a little windy here today. i went to gather eggs from the guinea coop which is one of those buildings like they sell at lowes. thats where i bought it, last winter.so its just a month or two over a year old. anyway, i have an eye latch on the inside double door that i hook when i dont want them out. i latched it, went to reach for the eggs, i got one in my hand when the wind caught the door and ripped the whole door off !! not at the hinge oh no, that would of been too easy. it took one door and the whole frame with it!!! i have an egg in one hand, corn in the other and a door flipping away from me. what to drop? not my egg of course or the corn. i tried to catch the door with my body. ( sigh) does this crap happen to everyone? i bet it weighs 50 lb or more. i have it propped up with 4x4s right now. someone please tell me, how am i going to get that thing back up by myself? the wind is supposed to be strong for the next 2 days. i cant get to them to feed or water without moving the whole thing. and you know whats bothering me the most? i didnt get the other 2 eggs. lol on a good note i went to my first chicken workshop and meet Twain Lockhart ( aka, Mr. Cluck) a poultry specialist from one of our sponsors at Nutrena . he mentioned us here at BYC and said this was a great place to come for advise and there was a lot of helpful people on this site. i also threw in about reaching the 250 thousand mark. i hope that was right. and i told everyone this is an awesome place to be.
