Hi Granny girl, I miss you too when I haven't gotten on in a bit. Very busy time for me right now. Just got the Silkie coop completed yesterday, trying to get ready for putting in the garden. Granddaughter had soccer last night so headed out to her game, hubbies B-day tomorrow and a funeral for one of our friends. Have had to deal with way more than I was hoping for with momma & baby chicks. Have lost 4 so far. Yesterday I was furious with the broody momma. She took the littles outside Sunday for a outing. They stayed out all afternoon and into early evening. About 6pm it started to get cloudy and was acting like a storm might be coming in. So hubby & I tried to get her & the young ones in before it rained. They weren't having any of that. Each time we would get some babies in and go grab more, the others would come back out of the coop. Eventually it started to pour and as I had suspected momma freaked out, jumped up the side of the ramp and ran into the coop leaving the 14 little ones to fend for themselves. We got them all in safely,I turned on the red light to get them warm & to keep them warm thru the night. They were all with momma when I shut the coop down for the night. When I headed out to the coop yesterday morning I was greeted with my one & only pure Silk dead by the door. I was so sad, I have struggled majorly to get Silkies to hatch in the first place. I got 2 pures & one mix out of last weeks hatch. I had already promised my niece 2, so she ended up with the other pure & the silkie mix. Now I'm back to square one grr.... Keeping my fingers crossed that the 3 pure Silkie eggs I got from the breeder will hatchout in 2 1/2 weeks.

Thanks for all the reassurances . I am very tired now. LOL I hope i remember all the comments.!! the one that stands out the most is big hands.
I have very large hands as well. sixe 11 ring finger and i am ashamed to tell the shoe. The Dr. did give me the shorter boot and when i put it on today sil commented on how i was walking better with it on. and my daughter said she will look for another that i can wear to the coop. It hurts my back muscles ut i guess i can/will get used to it. better then wheel chair. Seramas moved to a coop and run except for those sitting and a few babies. It will be better this way. until i post them anyway. sorry about yr babies Lisa. keeping fingers crossed for ALL the chicks due to hatch soon. Camping, your baby looks like my egyptions .
