I did buy her a wading pool like the children use. Its pink. hahaaa she really seems to like it. of course i am sure she would much rather be cut loose so she could go to my neighbors pond but she wouldnt last long down there. I dont know what kind of water she will have this winter.

I havent seen it. that would be nice though. chasing chickens and a duck down to force feed them wormer is not my idea of a good time.

we have feather fixer that has something in it for mite control . I bought one bag and ended up throwing it out. Not only would my chickens not eat it but it stunk and bothered my breathing. I bet there wasnt a wild bird within 50 miles of me with mites though.

Sorry for your trouble, granny. I don't have a very good relationship with my mom. I love her, but she's not very respectful of me or my decisions, especially where my own daughter is concerned. She has often and repeatedly undermined me in front of my daughter. I got tired of the constant fighting and harassing text messages, so now I just let it go. And I try to not pick the same fights with my daughter (hair, clothes, etc) that we had when I was little.

I didn't get to the doctor. My nurse friend listened to my chest and said it wasn't that bad. My lungs ache like I've been at the pool all day, but I'm able to catch a breath without as much coughing. Head and ears are still clogged. Maybe I'll get over it, or maybe I'll go tomorrow.

Hi Granny really sorry for you & your daughters troubles. Pain is such a wicked thing, it should be punishment enough to just suffer it. Its so frustrating that addiction can and is a side effect of dealing with pain. I'm sorry your daughter is not speaking to you right now, but if she is being prescribed that amount of pain medicine daily she is not in her right mind. Her body has become so dependant on the drugs that they are causing her additional pain not to have them. Plus it is taking more & more drugs to relieve the same amount of pain. You know if she was in her right mind she would never steal from the one person who has been there for her for anything and everything. It is very sad that you have had to toss your pain medicine and physically suffer in order to keep her from harming herself more. Life is so hard, you and your family will be kept in my prayers. Never feel like your alone or ashamed to talk about addiction. I don't think there is a family out there that someone in it hasn't suffered with one form of addiction or other. Sending & prayers.

If a rooster mates a duck hen, no harm no "fowl."

But a drake shouldn't mate chickens. Drakes have very different anatomical boy parts (rather shocking actually) and can severely injure a hen. Flo is safe enough if the rooster develops amorous intentions. Maybe some day she'll hatch you some chicklings!


I have heard of feed that contains worming meds, just can't remember what it's called. I'll post if I find it.


Troubling news about your daughter. Must be weighing very heavy on your heart.

It does explain some of their troubles lately. I wonder if your SIL knows. I taught at a juvenile drug treatment program, trying to help the kids earn credits for high school graduation or get get their GED, when they finished their programs. So many young lives terribly affected by drug addiction, and most of them were trying to stop pain too, but for them it was emotional pain. Your instincts are good, granny. Tough love only, no enabling. You of all people know what it's like to live with chronic pain, and I can hardly imagine what your daughter endures with her crohn's, but she's choosing a very dangerous and destructive path. My sympathies to her, and I hope she can get help.

X2 On What W4W said. Drakes mate the females very violently, so much so that most ducks have developed fake pockets and pouches in their vagina so to confuse the sperm. The animal kingdom is a very odd place. A rooster mating a duck hen should be fine. But like any inter species breeding, their children would be infertile.

Thank you wishing and lisa, I somehow feel much better talking about it. and to know i am trying to do the right thing. Sil knows, kids know. the older ones anyway. NOW, you all have me very curious as to a ducks pee pee. LOL sick granny ! I feel like my mother did. If all the birds interbreed there would be no red birds or blue birds.
