hello all made it thru and video adds only locked up mu computer 4 times in 8 pages.

Cool thing happened on Monday. Drove out to farm to do some more fencing. There in the fence already put up is a snapping turtle laying eggs. Of course your had to go say hi mom turtle just pulled her head and legs in so he gave her a snuffel then Beth had to bulldoze her way in and stick her snout in the neck hole to see what was there good thing she is quick and momma turtle was tired and slow. don't think Beth will be sticking hen head into turtle holes to see what's going on in there again. All Beth lost were a couple wiskers. Ticks are winning the battle!!! Frontline +'ed all the dogs on sunday and Beth brought in 20 plus ticks with her Monday night. Thought I had everyone tick checked before going to bed. NOPE after the fourth one woke me up by crawling across my exposed body parts (first 3 were flushed) I was so exhausted the I just bit the last one in half and spit it out.

Last night was tick free

but then we didn't go to the farm either. So let the little ones out in to the maternity ward area and before we left Nephew (bigfoot) went down to start getting them back in coop and managed to crush one that was hiding under some button weed. So now down to 102 chicks. Almost done with setting the railroad ties 1 we missed and then some for gates. Now just about 1/4 mile of t-posts and round wooden ones (with point on one end) to put in and we use the bobcat to push them into the ground. Then barb wire to string and stretch and sucker rod to hang on the ties. Have planted about 150 ties so far this past 2 weeks.

Good news every one (best Professor Farnsworth impersonation) So IN the past 14 day I have bought from Menard's 4 pallets of cement. Which of course went on sale Last sunday for 55 cents a bag less. Now 55 cents may not sound like much but when you are talking about 224 bags of cement is adds up. Tues I went in and asked what their policy was and they gave me an in store credit for the difference. 131.00 and change. Not every store will do that. We emptied 2 rooms of furniture to carpet cleaners could do their job on Tues and then loaded them back up this morning. I think that's all that going on around here. Also rained all day on Tues. Those ties should be sprouting/budding toy train sets soon can't wait until harvest.

@twisted-acres-farm - ticks are the devil! I can't sing the praises of "The Tick Lasso" enough - those things are an absolute miracle when it comes to removing ticks completely and without the issue of regurgitation which comes with all the suffocation methods. http://trixticklasso.com/ Moving out here I couldn't believe the tick issues they have vs. all the other places I've ever lived - they are just unbelievable - with three dogs and anywhere from 5-10 cats at any given time (not to mention the humans) we remove a lot of ticks every year.
Last year there was a pair of pups dumped near our place - we held them over the weekend waiting for AC to be able to pick them up and they were COVERED. I took 73 ticks off the two of them - (keep in mind these were little six week old pups who had clearly recently been weaned before being dumped, so the ticks had been allowed to build up on them while still under the "care" of the SOB that dumped them)- a snap with the little lasso tool.

twisted, you seriously BIT it in half ? that is nasty ! you should slow down a bit . your not that far behind me you know. So are you eating the turtle eggs?

OL mare, LOL hahaaa, good while it lasted hu? I dont even know my age. dont much care either. tick lasso is pretty cool ! I think a needle threader is shaped like that? I will have to dig mine out and see.

Ticks aren't much of a problem around the property here - not the growth for them to hide in. Fleas and the like however...hubs was showing off a rabbit he shot to my mutt and it was just hopping with the danged things.

...yeah he got trouble for that. Even though she's got the flea protection stuff doesn't mean I want her diving into the cursed things!!

I need to get her some more anti flea stuff, I have one tube left...but she reacts to some anti flea stuff, hartz and advantix...

Yet advantage she's fine with. Go figure.

Acquisition of a squirrelanator will happen Friday (after hubs gets paid). Contemplating picking up a bag of the food grade DE - just cause the squirrels were in the coop. Jerks. But I dunno there's so much yay and nay about it. I mean it'd be great to use on the many fire ant nests we have too...

Anyway. My brain no workie. Oi.

my guineas were great for ticks, unfortunately they were great for the coyotes too. lost all 15 in a week. because they are loud and annoying and a ton of work to put up at night i dont plan on more. ticks are bad this year here because my weed whip is kaput. very disappointed that i cant see the flowers i planted because of them but did notice the flowers are spreading better with no weeding by me. so maybe its a good thing i am not doing it. they might grow. I feel some better today. went outside for a while . thats probably why. I have all the seramas out of the cabin and into the 2 coops ! finally only 2 to tend to. til winter anyway. I have been dreading winter so much i cant enjoy spring /summer.

I have alternate bouts with depression and anxiety. Right now it's depression. It's hard to get anything done; just going through the motions. I've got too many irons in the fire: when I've got a day off from cooking then I spend it trying to catch up on housework. I'm already refilling chicken waterers twice a day, and it's not even July yet. Sometimes the labor is endless and not rewarding, you know?

I'm planning to downsize my chickens. That should help. I love the sweet juvies because they're curious and sweet. Maybe I should always only have juvies. I need to get rid of the baby roos. Some have wattles like nickels or dimes, round and bright red. Some that developed combs and wattles early haven't progressed, they're just little crescent moons in pink or yellow-white. But some of the EE "pullets" appear to be growing hackles.

If I sold them right now, I'd part with four from the a-frame tractor and six from the yard. Maybe ten, if I was really pressed.

I'm hoping we still have an auction on the 26th. That's my best, easiest shot at unloading these babies. Some of them are really pretty, too.

Anyway, that's all for me. Hoping for an early bedtime. It's a pretty standard wish for this time if year.

I am so sorry you are feeling bad camping. depression is a green headed monster that can sneak up on you sometimes. I am always here to talk if you want to. I have depression some times as well. It hasnt been too bad lately though. Doing things you enjoy helps but not if its too much of a good thing. If you cant rehome the ones you want there is always freezer camp. I am facing that right now. think i will be putting a few there when the weather cools. probably give them away afterwards. LOL
