I just used water and maybe 1/2 tsp salt. Cooked them in a Mirro- Matic pressure canner.

I canned venison and beef too. I was never afraid to eat the meat.

Same kind I have but its a 4 quart.

doesnt seem to want to jijjle anymore and just kinda hisses at me.

Then you need to clean the hole on the weight with a soapy Q-tip. If dirt or grease gets in the hole, the air just escapes instead of jiggling the weight.

I think if I had a knowledgable person helping me the first time.. I wouldn't be scared.


I learned how to can everything with a Ball Canning Handbook. Anybody can learn how to do it.
