So sorry about your friend, granny. People become part of our lives, even when we never see them face to face, and the void left when they are gone can be painful. If you're in contact on a daily basis, you are thinking about that person often (which is more than I can say for a lot of my relatives!). It gets to be a daily habit and becomes much more noticeable when they're gone, and you have to do without. I think sometimes it makes it harder when you haven't met because there's not much chance of closure, all the loose ends dangling and unanswered questions you wish you had a chance to ask. Maybe it will be good for you too, to be in contact with her daughter, to help you sort things out as well.
