my daughter is doing pretty good. she got one of those already made dinners. my son is the reason my shoulder hurts. salt for the water softner. he did carry them in the house but thats where it ended. told me this morning his crohns is flairing. was up all night. he wouldnt eat. It is so hard to tell when his illness, autism, or lazy factor is going on. when he was 4yrs and refused to put his socks on , he would throw such a tantrum and he would get a little smack on the butt for it. when i found out why he wouldnt want them on, the problems he has i just wanted to die. I swore i would never touch him again or any other for that matter. because we just dont know. today, i still dont know and it may be wrong of me but i just cant push. I dont have it in me any more. he has gone back to bed. maybe when he gets up later he will bring them down for me. I havent asked him. we are having a white thanksgiving. LOL

hope dinner was good. I am just gonna sit here and make random posts all day. hehee I asked my son to take the boxes down in the closet and he did. BUT, only one of them held village things. One box said xmas prettys, my mom had wrote. I cried til i got sick. I told them never mind , i cant do this. my husband went to the barn and found all the rest of it. 5 of those totes full. did i say she always had a big display? He carried every one of them in the house for me

. he also only has one good arm from a stroke. tomorrow is his birthday. he will be 77 yrs. something good did happen though. there was one tote we couldnt open . i got a big screw driver and tried to pop it open. I heard a loud pop but it wasnt the tote, it was my shoulder. it feels better already.

That's great news!

Very nice of your husband to bring the boxes in for you. Did your Mom paint the village houses or buy them? I love those set ups and the glass balls that snow.

Glad your shoulder went back in! Could it be a tendon getting displaced? You'll have to keep the screwdriver handy in case it ever happens again. It's so bittersweet to have those things from your mom. Mine passed 7 yrs ago and I still get emotional when I see some of her favorite stuff. Found her wallet trying to help my dad clear out the house and came unglued. Told him I would have to wait a little longer before I could do it. That was 4 years ago.

The barn up at my dad's is full of my grandparents' stuff, the house with mom and dad's things, all of which someday I will have to deal with. I am trying to break my packrat habit, but I swear it is hereditary. I tell the boys they are 4th generation packrat on both sides of the family! We are curbing the impulse with them and I have promised myself I will not be leaving them 3 generations of mess when it's my time to go. I have already started, cause you never know! Less is more was my mom's favorite saying that she never could follow.

All their Christmas ornaments will be kept, though, so many good memories!

Hope your son feels better and that he never has to have surgery. I was just trying to commiserate with memories of my son, never trying to tell you what to do.

Everyone is so different. Mom usually knows best.

Midnight here, and just heard hubby's car pull up the drive, home from the big football game, which we lost. Big day tomorrow, so time for sleep!

for the eggs.

this mom dont , sometimes i dont know jack about him. I was looking for insight . thank you. I have tried what you suggest and sometimes it works and some not. I was told i have sublecting shoulders (wrong spelling) and my family would put my shoulder back in when it came out but this was in a different spot so i wasnt sure. this morning it is sore and my finger tips hurt. ? all my bones are shot from yrs. of steroid use. around 35 yrs. i guess. I didnt get started on the village yesterday maybe i will be a bit more stable today. the village is charles dickerson figures along with quite a few more, it is all ceramic it is a full town /general store, post office, churches, anything you can imagine in a town along with covered bridges, trees , split rail fencing decorated with pine garland all of it is very tiny. the people in the horse drawn sled . its pretty awesome to me and i know its not going to look like when she did it but i will give it a whirl. she used the cotton for snow and back lit it . my husband made her some little shelves that slowly get bigger so it looks like its on a mountain.

The village sounds really neat

my mother in law would set up a couple of those villages they where ceramic that she painted she loved to paint the ceramic stuff and she was really good at it. hope your shoulder continues to feel better.

I'm sure your village will look amazing when you get it all done. Yipee! on the egg with movement. Hope everyone had a nice day yesterday. Ours was very nice. Uneventful which made it wonderful.

Wishing4Wings - so sorry about the football game. I was sure pulling for that cute Colin Kaepernik. 49ers have always been my second favorite team. Can't help it - I'm Cajun so the Saints are first. Neither one of my brothers is into sports and can't understand why I am. I used to watch football with my dad. I can understand the packrat genetics. I come from a long line of them as well. There is still one box of my Mother's stuff that I just can't get through. She passed away 30 years ago! It has some of the lace she tatted with such tiny but perfect detail and things like that. I open the box and touch and look but just can't bring myself to actually do anything. I do have and use many of her Christmas ornaments. Sigh! So many memories just flood back.

Oh mrsc, you just reminded me of the chest full of beautiful crochet things made by my grandma's mother. Pretty flower doilies, afghans, embroidered things. Apparently great-gramma was a crochet fiend, always working on something. And of course, the packrat family still has it all.

I didn't even watch the 49er game! I used to love football, but these days it seems the commercials dictate the pacing of the game, so I lose interest. Just getting grumpy, I guess. I still root for the team, hoping for a return of the Joe Montana glory days.

Granny, I'm sure your Christmas village will be beautiful! I am constantly second guessing myself about the boys too. Feels like uncharted territory much of of the time.

Go eggs!! ... or chicks in eggs. If these don't hatch, I'll bet they are just too small. When my broody hens started laying again, the eggs were pullet sized for a while, and I even got some marble sized ones. I took some pictures, but they're still in the camera. I have to finish cleaning before everyone gets here for turkey dinner, so I'll try later.
