nice picture, I had a white one with a couple black spots like that and it was some type of leghorn. it was friendly

when it was a little bit older. I didnt keep him til full grown . this was also the same one that had wry neck.
He was a cute little dude, love the polka-dots. My wry neck chick was really bad, but his was from injury I think. I had got a bunch of birds from hatchery last spring and each time I went to do anything in there brooder box they all freaked out and piled into a corner. I think he got hurt under all the chicks. His little beak was curled all the way to his chest. All he could do was back up, then it just got worse. I put him out of his misery, that was really hard for me to do :(

my new book says even if you have a brooder with corners to use cardboard in them to make it round, cut off the corners so that cant happen. see, book paying for it self already . haha cardboard would have to be tall enough they couldnt jump over it and chill. foots really hurting tonight.

have a problem hoping some one can come with an easy fix. I bought a 3 1/2 gal. waterer for the baby bantams, (not such babies anymore) I have a cookie tin heater i have been using for their 1 gal and it was working fine but the new one sits differently. it sits under the base of the waterer and the lip where the water comes out is in the air so to speak. it is freezing while the water inside is staying thawed. I can go back to the one gallon but this really cuts down on trips carrying it. any ideas? only one i have come with is trying to find a bigger cookie tin but they dont come real big.

Is the lip big enough to float a ping pong ball? I read that on a blog somewhere, that the slightest wind will move the ball, so the water can't get still enough to freeze.

Im not sure if it is or not. i am guessing its about an inch. . you know how long its been since i have seen a ping pong ball ? hahaha
