I wish they would, cooking is way over rated in my book. Used to love doing it, but not anymore.

Some people like to do it. Twisted acres is a great cook. Nice recipes. My mom always told me men make much better cooks. I am lost in there. I dont know what to do with half them dodads in the drawers. even my grandson cooks. he is 15. He made some spaghetti ( i love spell check) and I was so impressed I got a glass of tea and proceeded to add the dinner to my glass of tea. he was not pleased when i told him i was trying to liven the flavor up some.

well, I am off to the land of nod. hope everyone has a great night !!

I remember a comedian saying how she reads a cook book and says to herself. "Well that's not going to happen".

DW has so many cookbooks it's ridiculous. I don't know why folks ever buy them They're a big waste of money. IMO. There are more recipes than grains of sand on a Florida beach.

I look at magazines and once I get to the recipes I know I'm done. Fact is most folks are too lazy to use a recipe. Not to mention don't have all the ingredients. I once drove all over looking for Ginger stem for a recipe. I couldn't find it and no one knew what I was talking about. I just used crystalized ginger, but never made that recipe again.

I have three canning books and I use them all pretty much. Some jellies/jams I liked some I didn't.

DW watches all the cooking shows but I don't think she's ever made a darn thing from them. I hate the Bare Foot Contessa especially. Jeffrey must have a heck of job and they don't have any kids. Fact is the only pleasure is for those who get to eat her free food. No "real" person can afford the ingredients she can.

Okay I'm done.

Ostrich, emu and kangaroo are also very good. Squid and octopus are like eating rubberbands!

I think some folks have different taste buds in their mouths. I hate mushrooms and brussell sprouts. ( before and after. )

Besides, If God wanted us to eat Squid and Octopus they'd grow on trees, not so far down in the ocean you've got to work to get them.

you guys are cracking me up ! alligator? they are serving that at a nearby restaurant but i am not eating something that is not clean. they kill their prey and hid it under the water til it is good and rotted. If you ever ate clams at Red Lobster out of season then you have ate octopus. Bible says dont eat anything with a cloven hoof, aka: horse, ect.... He made fishermen to eat from the sea. It is just a matter of taste and what grosses us out the worst. I have a canning book I have opened on occasion and a cook book I have never opened. everything is made by what sounds like it would go together. I rarely cook but when i do i never make the same thing twice.

Did you mean the name Lola? I always start humming the Kinks tune when I call her. La-La-La-La-LOLA! She got the pretty name. The jubilee orp is Figgy Pudding and the cuckoo is Buster Posey (after baseball catcher extraordinaire for the SF Giants). Here's a few pics of the bantams. This is Mo, walking on tippy-toes, pretending he is not the smallest bird in the coop! Bunny is looking to see if I have treats. Curly is the only other silkied Serama besides Mo. Minnie Pearl (bantam cochin) with Serama friends. See Mo on his toes? Wish his tail went up, but he's still cute. Right now I have 10 broodies- the Silkie and 9 Seramas. Went from getting 6-7 eggs per day down to one. All of them are crammed into 3 nest boxes and poor Mo only has one little hen for company. The cochins hang with him too, but I'm not sure he thinks of them as real chickens!
Wishing those are some beautiful birds you have. Here's to crossed fingers when granny gets her cadillac of a incubator she will be able to successfully hatch herself some Seramas :)

Lisa, thanks for the welcome back :)
Sorry about all of your babies not hatching but it sounds like you've got a lot of them anyway. Is it hard to keep up with all the details of what each age group needs, or is it like second nature? I'm proud of myself for keeping food, clean water, crunched shells and grit available... not to mention poo monitoring and coop/run cleaning. That seems like a lot at times, lol.

Wishing, love your pretty flock, and oh that lil roo is a heartbreaker! My BF in HS was named Lola so I'm fond of the name, too. It's actually on my potential name list (does anyone else have one of those?).
Welcome back Sunset!! And welcome watermelon!
I have a name to be list to and I really like Lola and Luna. I have a hen that will peck other hens sometimes when being breed I haven't noticed it lately but it makes me so mad!

I have one of those myself Suzierd. She even tried pecking each bird on its head yesterday when I was dusting them. I had to keep pushing her back grr... lol.
