Left overs aka reruns today, meatloaf. Just found out you can buy a family pack of hamburger and make it all up into meatloafs and then freeze it. Then just pop it into the over frozen or not. Tasted great. I use oatmeal instead of bread or cracker crumbs healthier I think. Left over ham going into a fratatta with is just onions and celery and what ever you need to use up out of fridge fried a little then pour a mixture of eggs and milk/cream over it and pop in oven at 350 until almost done then top with cheese and back in until cheese GBD I have used left over baked potatoes, cold spaghetti noodles both good. Cheap and easy and uses the little bits in your fridge that aren't enough for anything else.

Yep - I love making large batches of food and repurposing leftovers! Funny thing is I often find myself looking forward more to the leftover/re-dux meal than the original meal it started as. Case in point, when I make roast (which I like well enough on it's own) I am more excited to think of the stroganoff I'll make with it the next evening

And, definitely yes to the oatmeal in meatloaf, the texture is much better, imo that way - it's just how my family has always prepared it, so how I learned to do it. Must be doing something right, for the bad rep meatloaf seems to always get mine is one that the kids' friends always want to be around for when that's what is for dinner

Alas, with the arrival of summer and the first "heat wave" of the year (those are the weather girl's words, not mine, lol) I find myself loathe to turn on the oven much - time to start grilling everything. I did give in and run it a bit yesterday to bake a cake, but I got up extra early and had that done and out of the way before 8 so I could turn off the oven and let the cool morning air re-cool the house before the sun got too far into it's heating duties for the day. We do a LOT of salads in the summer.

my father started showing up at my house in Mi. every day come dinner time. I learned to always keep an extra place set. He was the one that told me to always eat like a bachelor because you dont know where your next meal is coming from. anyway, I made meatloaf. It fell apart in the pan. He gets there and he is staring at it and i said, grab your plate. he stands there longer looking at it then finally asks, what is it ? I said its meatloaf ! are you gonna eat or not ? He says, No, I dont believe i am hungry today .

My meatloaf ended our nightly visits for dinner. I missed that but i guess i dont know how to make one. I have not made one since and that was 15 yrs. ago or more.
 
Bator temp was 101 this morning. Perfect.

Both kids are home today, so chores are slow. Got the brooders cleaned out and main flock fed. Head was clear for a bit this morning, but stopped up again. Working on getting the kitchen clean from the weekend... Pretty sure we used every dish in the house for sushi Friday night.
 
thought 99.5 was perfect ? I still have just the 2 seramas . Talking (trying) to DH today about the seramas. was telling him i was thinking of taking them to the swap. he talked about the last time i set up there and what i sold and money, ect... I went with an Amish friend of mine. he wasnt there. Alvin did all the carrying for me. anyway, after making plans with husband I said well, you wont have to build any cages. he asks why? because we will sell them. Sell the seramas ?? are you kidding me ? as hard as you worked to get them? You love them !!! This man neither listens or knows anything about me

ohh ya, I have heard that too. I ran my still at 100 or as close as i could get there. how many more days now ?

A few days then. I have 2 duck eggs. they are big ! I am sitting here listening to " bob-white-bob white " outside the window.
 
never had them either. I better get busy with them though. DH wants me to put them in the bator. so not happening
