I'd probably try duct taping a trash bag over the cast and go for my chickens if I were that lady.

I don't know how much rain we got but my yard doesn't look anywhere like Enola's.
Stay safe.

Camping didn't you have a hen that was "thinking" about being broody ???   Might also explain the lack of eggs you are finding,  Broody hen's  will "invite" other hens to lay in their nest.   At least that is what mine have done.

I did, but she changed her mind. No eggs or hen in the treeline. The eggs really dropped a few days ago, so she could have been gone for awhile. Maybe she'll come back with a clutch in three weeks. :fl

This is great duck weather. They are covered in mud so they have been drilling in the garden.

Chickens just stand in the doorway and look out.

Tom broke his wrist 2 winters ago, I broke my hip. I continued to care for him, the chickens, and everything else with out even getting checked. by the time i did it was healing back. Pretty sure if i had 75 seramas out there i would find a way.

Question is it wrong to be jealous of all the water Enola has???   Sooooo very dry here,  grass crunches when you walk on it.  My "Seasonal" creek is down to a few mud holes will a little nasty stinky water in the middle.   We are about 4 inches behind for the year and our averages is about 15 inches a year total.    Be CAREFUL Enola.

Twist, believe me I would share lots of this water with you in a heart beat!

We have gotten more than 18 inches in the last 12 days. . . .
