I don't have quail, but I've got Serama that lay quail sized eggs. They are fun to hard boil, bite sized. I tried making tiny deviled eggs once, but it was mostly a failure. The yolks are really large, so about half of the whites ended up being too thin to hold the eggy goodness. Still fun, though. My MIL said
Oh, too much work! so I know she was impressed.
What kind of quail are you thinking of getting?
You shouldn't have to put a light on them in the 30s if they are dry and protected from drafts. My bantams snuggle up on the roosts together, but we rarely get below 30 either.
