Its not just the boys, I'm going to go off on a tangent because diabetes kills, it is a silent killer for many years, so when the person finally starts having medical issues crop up, they diabetes has already did irreperable damage to many organs. I watched my dad kill himself over a 20 year period. The last 10 years the medical problems started showing themselves. His last 5 years on earth were a living h*ll for him. I never want to see that happen to anyone else I love.

But that's the real problem no real symptoms  so unless you have lots of money for testing  there's no real way to know.    Thank God there is no history of that on either side of my family tree/stick/branch.
That's why it is important to have your annual physical each year twist. They do the fasting blood work test for that & other things. Sounds to me like you might be a little behind on one of those.

Take care of yourself, you have people that care.

He can have REAL cheese in moderation. Both dieticians told him to stay away from "processed" (fake) foods.

Yes he is going to have a hard time, but, he should have not been in denial about having diabetes for the LAST 5 YEARS......

A Dr. McGuiness didn't believe him when Mike told him the diabetes just pooped up. He called Dr Russell and found out he was diagnosed with diabetes 2009!!!!! I yelled at him for that too.

I think I am probably going to be yelling a LOT!

Going thru same thing with dh. Have to buy only what he can eat. Gs has frig and cabinet in his room for his snacks. Sharp cheese has less sugar. He needs the calcium but not the sugar in milk. Good luck. Everytime dh goes somewhere without me i find snack cake wrappers between car seats.

I understand your frustration  BUT  think its hysterical that he trys to hide the evidence.  Not well mind you.   has he tried to blame it on the grands???
My dad was the same way, mom tried to keep him on the right path, but he would just buy candy & stash it in his truck glovebox, in the garage or in one of his boats.

occasionally  I "borrow" Robert's tester just to see  and have always had numbers where they should be.
Well that's good twist, but you really do need to have a physical, don't get me wrong, I hate doctors, but after 50 you should have your PSA level checked & a colonoscopy. Any history of prostate cancer or colon cancer in your family?

Same thing with my FIL. He's known for years, but could not control his cravings, and thought he was okay doing it until his kidneys failed. Needs dialysis daily now.

Ya my dad went down the same road, very sad. He even lost a the big toe. That never healed completely, they were discussing having to amputate that leg to the knee just before his liver failed & he went into congestive heart failure and died. Diabetes is very serous, my youngest daughter(she's 28) has had serouse health problems since her late teens. Medication, RA & depression has helped her gain a LOT of weight. I am so scared that she will be diagnosed with diabetes.
