Don't be upset. You don't know that she ate live chicks. That could've happened days ago, right? If they stopped developing she may have gotten rid of them.
I know it's hard.I was helping chicks hatch and went back later and she'd stomped them. I was furious. But it was a "staggered" hatch and when the next ones came out, she did fine. Even adopted chicks from the other broody who just kept setting (on dud eggs).
yeah twist I'm sure no one incubating has ever freaked and tried to help lol.Red the eggs might have been DUD"S or maybe she heard "pipping" and tried to help and then go a little carried away. Not unlike some people who incubate

Seems like this is a huge thing to organize. You did most of it yourself, yes?
You probably answered most of these, but I might have been sleep reading.

Nice coops! They look very sturdy. Decorations too!
I see that sign laying there in the last pic. No wonder you've got to put your Barney outfit on to get the bus to stop!!!![]()
Leave her be! If you don't hear peeping, they are probably not hatched yet. If some are hatched, they can be up under her wings, and you can crush or drop one if you pick her up (I learned this the hard way). Eating or killing chicks is rare. They are not genetically programmed to do that. What can I do
Chances are your dates are off, and the hatch will be a day or two late. Or like other have said, eggs could be infertile.
To be honest, I did peek with mine, but only to carefully lift up the hen's breast a tiny bit. You don't want her stepping on one that is newly hatched, so best not to disturb.

Red, I'm pretty certain that those probably were duds. They seem to know those things. There is never a guarantee that all eggs will hatch, but praying you will get a few at least. Its probably best with the first time momma's to not have too many chicks because they are just learning too. Sorry this has been so stressful for you, each time it get easier, trust me. Thanks. Both of y'all. I praying they were duds. She's sitting on six now. She broke one as I was trying to lift her. Got to thinking and talked to pearl. She reminded me that when we candled that there was two or three that we were unsure about. And they were Brown eggs. All four of the white one are left and two Brown. Maybe those were duds.Red, I'm pretty certain that those probably were duds. They seem to know those things.
