Morning y'all. Not getting off to a good start, here. Ben pooped in his kennel, and I'm not talking solid logs. Whole house smells like poop. I got hay and feed and can't move either of them. And DH is mad about our lack of eggs, surprise surprise.

Too bad he never listens to me.

Any ideas for me to try? I guess light would be the easiest. I'm hoping these nice new nests inspire some laying also.

Oy - that is a horrid, horrid stench to have in the house--poor Ben (and poor you), hope he is feeling better this evening and you have rid yourself of the stench. Was going to ask how old your girls are, but see you answered that a few pages later -- not sure what to think about the production, though your new girls are from more exhibition type lines if I recall correctly - and sometimes form over function breeding for SQ can mean not focusing on production and leads to less productive birds more inclined to take the winter off even in the first year. Mention of the pox would also definitely play into a less likely "bounce back" to pick up production after recovery at the same time daylight is shortening.

I can set out more oyster. Not sure what to do for protein.

Ben's kennel is outside. I hosed it once, letting everything "soften" before I go again. I put Ben loose in the laundry room. In five minutes he shredded a towel, broke the top of the cat box, and dragged the cat feeder down from the counter.

I'm going to have to go back to feeding him twice a day. After a few weeks of only eating once a day I can already see his hips. Not like he was, but it's easy for him to drop weight I guess.

I'm a fan of 2x a day feeding - sure the caloric needs can be met with one feeding, but my personal preference is to spread the calories and the food load out in two feedings vs. cramming it all into one.....to me it's a healthier feeding program.

hot water on kitchen sink been dripping for a while. it was an easy fix, turn the spicket to the side an let the water run down and you wont hear it .

LMAO - so my kind of fix.

OMG I hear lots of cursing and running water. I think I should go watch/help but sort of afraid to.

I have electric heaters (the oil filled type)  in the 3 rooms I rent and a couple three in the house and it is not supposed to get super cold tonight Thank the lord.........
