texas cornbread has everything in it.

meat, beans, corn.......it's a stand alone meal.......

with 6 kids at home, we are real big on stand alone meals......

but cobbler would go good with.....

I looked on line.. It just says peppers, corn and jalepino... Now I need to find what you are talking about!!!
ground meat.

take 1# ground beef
1# ground breakfast sausage
chop an oinion
chop up some banana pepers( you can use jalepenos if yer family prefers
brown meat and onion and peppers together.
I like to season the meat mixture with cumin, chili powder, little salt and red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
you can also put in a can of drained ranch style beans, or any can bean you choose.

shred some cheese.

mix up the corbread, either from scratch, or from box.
I like to add 1 can of cream corn, to the mixture.

get big cast iron skillet.pour about 1/4" of cornbread batter in greased with butter skillet
put in oven at 350. keep an eye on it, you don't want it to cook, just firm up.

then add drained meat onions and peppers, cover liberally with the shredded cheese, pour the rest of the cornbread batter over, don't over fill!!

put skillet on a cookie sheet (because you will overfill), and put back in the oven.

cook until the cornbread is done.

It's 12x12 finished. I can make a BertS sized one, but it's gonna cost you. BIG time.

is it like a pot holder, or hot pad?

It's a small wall hanging. I use heat-resistant batting on potholders/trivets.

I have the pattern to do a 6x6 block with teeny tiny jars. I haven't tried it yet.
