That was me. My mom hatched out 12 wild California quail when my dad accidentally destroyed their nest moving the compost pile with the tractor. I was just a kid, but all 12 of the little bumble bees could completely hide under one of my hands. So cute, tiny stripey babies zooming around their box.I think Lisa said they look like little bumble bees. Hahaha. I just hope they hatch.
Belle is 12 now. I've noticed her backbone is more prominent now as is the bone at the back of her skull between her ears. Losing some muscle mass as senior dogs will do. She's still getting around pretty good, but definitely stiffer. Aren't we all?!she looks good. . My cocker is starting to show her age. She is 9 I think maybe 10. My cat is getting white fur. LOL . the one in the house is about 16 or more.
Quote:Quote: I saw someone use a wire frame (screen, oven rack?) over a shallow pan (cookie sheet?) inside the duck brooder. Water dish set on top of wire, and spills collect in the pan to keep brooder dry. It would help with the stinky!
For me it's not just the act of eating but the warm fuzzy feeling you get when sitting at the table with family and friends. Sharing your day and eating a nice/good meal together.
My turn again to be the worst chicken mom of the year.![]()
I haven't gotten eggs in a couple if days, just three since I caught the egg eater. But I've been checking the boxes, and they don't even look sat in. I opened the coop today, think fresh air would help them. And I turned on the faucet for the hose because the goats needed clean water. Well the chickens dove in like they'd never had water in their lives.
Long story short, the nipples were stuck. The inner pins were locked somehow, felt rusty or maybe gritty. So the waterer LOOKED full because no one could get any water out. I filled every single container in the yard and added a secondary waterer to the coop.
Two pullets aren't doing so well. Super droopy, and one has a purple comb. I locked them back in the coop so nothing bothers them while they recuperate.![]()
