Great Pyrenees, Property listed as Ag, and "city" neighbors

Wish I had heard of that act four weeks ago

It was complicated because my neighbors are both my friends and my landlord's friends. I did have permission to fence back pasture and get the alpacas but it would have made life miserable for me knowing they were miserable. Before I got rid of her, I had the official Placer County wildlife tracker come to property and look at fencing etc. He said they were big enough that the coyotes wouldn't go after them because where we are there is wayyyy tooo much easy food to go after. And my fencing was very secure.. So I am hoping for the best and saving for a video and audio camera surveillance system.

Good luck with your situation.. I sure hope justice pervails!

I really don't understand people these days, I treat my neighbors like family, my best friend is actually my neighbor to the west I take care of her flocks of birds, cats and there dog, horses and house, whenever they go away for the weekend, my old neighbors to the south before they lost the house had St. Bernards, and horses and I took care of there critters and children many times Their St.'s barked constantly were always loose and in my yard and 2 were not trained well or trust worthy to not bite. There cat was an attach cat, half crazy I think. All that never bothered me, guess I can sleep through a hurricane, and even screaming children. But ya know even if it bothered me I would never think to complain to anyone except maybe the owner, and that would just be a friendly could ya put your dogs up or muzzle them after 11pm. I did however warn her about her dogs getting in my horses field, because I told her straight up if they chase my horses, I will shoot them. and hand her the vet bill for any damage they caused.
I really think soon enough all of us normal country people will be pushed out farther and farther by the yuppy city idiots who seem to have endless money and resorces to get what they want. I keep saying as it is cuz there's too many of them coming out here That I'm going to buy 1000 acres and put my house right smack in the middle of it fence it and turn loose about 20 Rott's to protect it. Post it and enter at your own risk signs out. something like the dogs bite but not half as hard as the owner. LOL Kim

LoL Kim,

My hubby is so mad over it he told me to add a peafowl to my flock and anything else I want.

crazy neighbors thoughtbthe dogs were loud. Besides it isn't like they barked all night. They ate young and still learning night time threats thatbwarrant a bark. Sadly the sherriff appeared to be afraid of large dogs. He went as far as to say they didn't look like puppies. He also admitted that he pulled up out front with his lights off and window open on his car. Then stated they barked non stop. Ya think? Strange car pulls up and doesn't move, he basically baited them into barking.

OMG! Another idiot cop. Aren't their tests to get into criminal justice?!?!? Certainly no common sense questions!!!

That just infuriated me. I'm sorry. Idiots.

Dogs bark. If you were to get rid of her and their house got broke into ... the first thing they would say is "too bad your dog wasn't around to bark and warn everyone" I have seen simular things happen with my parents and their neighborhood. Neighbors complained about my mother's cats and the law said she had to keep them up or on a leash... yes, a leash.... so she kept them up for a few weeks and THE SAME neighbor came knocking that she was seeing more mice around and wanted to have the cats put back to indoor/outdoor. THE SAME NEIGHBOR!?!?!

Oh, people can be so ignorant.

Had a similar Problem We have 4 1/2 ac. of designated farm land just on the our skirts of town We do not have a fenced yard But have trained our Rotty to only go up to the property lines She knows exactly were they are and will not pass them no matter how bad she wants the coyote on the other side of that line anyways recently we had some new neighbors move into the house at the end of our Street a dead end street whom are becoming a big problem we have installed cameras that record 24-7 believe it or not it was fairly cheep and when Happy (the Rottweiler) Finally has enough of there kids and the grandmother throwing rocks at her and bites them I will have proof that it is provoked I have called the police and they say although it could be considered animal curtly there is technically nothing they can do at this point. the war continues new neighbors Suck most of the time

ON another Note let your neighbor know that the next time there dog is on your property you are going to shoot it out of fear of being bitten ON farm land our laws are a little different if you can prove its eaten any of your live stock the pound will put it down

I would love to know more about the camera system you are using. We are having permanent power ran to the coop plus 1 other out building this spring making it easy to install cameras too. I have plans for motion spotlights all around as well.

This is madness

. I cannot believe anyone driving a jaguar would think they would fit into country life

I mean seriously, sounds like you have some amazing guard dogs. I want them too (what breed are they?)!! We are in the city now, and I have never, well as long as I can remember, lived in the country. BUT I have enough common sense to know that there ARE animals in the country and there ARE predators too

not that hard to figure out people. We are moving to a 7 (shared) acres in a rental house that is less than half we pay now. I have the chickens already and will be getting goats for all the blackberries when we move. I know there are coyotes there to be aware of, so I am thinking about a good farm dog too. I surely hope there aren't going to be any issues with neighbors, I know one has cows (saw them), another has cows and chickens (can hear them), the other house on the 7 acres is my husbands friend whose mom owns the houses/property and they are no worries at all, two houses on the street have no animals that I know of. But still, I have been told that they are easy going and my hubby's friend shoots off his hunting gun to "practice" before he goes out hunting and no one says a word. If I run into anything like you have, I would fight it tooth and nail...

I thought my neighbor next to me would hate my birds since he is a bit of a problem with other neighbors, we have never had an issue, but he actually tells me he loves them and hates to see us move since we are "good" neighbors...hmmm...interesting...hopefully, no issues when we move.

Okay, know I'm going to be the "bad guy" here, but I have to side with your neighbors. There are two separate issues here, which have nothing to do with each other - their dogs running loose and your dogs barking at night. I live on 40 acres with lots of smaller parcels surrounding us, although none are smaller than 5 acres. We have livestock also, but we have them fenced and put them in at night to protect them from predators. I don't know how many animals you have, but unless you have a good sized herd, there's no reason not to lock them up at night. We have several neighbors who leave their dogs out at night and they bark off and on all night long. In the summer, we can no longer sleep with our windows open because of the barking. I don't understand how the owners get any sleep. It is really quite annoying to no longer be able to enjoy the pleasure of the breeze coming throuogh the windows or hearing the croaking of the frogs. I am tempted to record my son's band playing and set up something sound activated so every time I get to hear their dogs bark, they get to hear my son's band. The fact that your neighbor's dog runs loose is in no way connected to your dogs' barking. Trap their dogs and turn them into animal control; they'll have to pay a fine (a larger one if the dogs aren't licensed). A time or two of that and they will either keep their dogs home or get rid of them.
