Grooming Thread!!!!!!

I bathe every 2-4 weeks. Every 2 weeks if they are super dirty(spring time) and every four weeks otherwise.

Its easier on my back to.
And less stressful for Tucker

I usually only bathe as necessary which isn’t very often mostly when he rolls in something or starts to smell lol although these most recent times I bathed him less than a week later because I didn’t like how the other shampoo smelled

Rescue DESPISES water to the point he refuses to step foot in the bathroom out of fear of being bathed. he's very well behaved but when it comes to a bath I can't keep him in. I feel so bad every time I bathe him. He is short haired so he doesn't need one often, but he hasn't been bathed in almost a year . I hate seeing him in distress. how can i keep him clean?

I’m not sure. Maybe wipe him down with wipes or something?

I know it doesnt help a ton but a dry shampoo(i have one i use on Tucker) im goung to get a different one.

He still gets bathed once a month sometimes i skip a month if its Winter as bathing him outside is much easier

They can get dry and itchy, and also they can actually get more greasy and dirty because it strips off the protective oil of a coat, so it loses the ability to repel dirt.

I used to do mine every 4-8 weeks, but now only do them a couple times a year. Most of mine are short coated, so I often wipe them down with a damp washcloth, and they are good to go. The Aussie gets a bath probably 3-4 times a year at most.

Generally they end up get a full bath because they decided to roll in something stinky.

Yeah, I don’t have a problem with bathing Chase more often, but it just seems like cats are different. I honestly don’t know why I feel that way though.

He hates all water or just baths? Chase never liked baths, so I always let him chase the hose around before, because he loves that. I think it made bath time a little better for him. I totally just made this up, but maybe if he doesn’t mind getting wiped down you could gradually and slowly make the rag wetter and wetter. Maybe if you can get to a point where the rag is soaking wet he will let you start poring water on him with a cup. Starting with a very tiny drizzle. Weather permitting, it should be done outside since he already associates the bathroom with baths.

Pretty much all water is evil to him lol. I don't have any information on his background but I'm pretty sure he was ab*sed at one point how anyone could hurt a dog is beyond me. He has a BB underneath his skin from when he was shot in his old home so a lot of different things scare him

That’s horrible! I guess then that playing with the hose won’t appeal to him.
