Halloween Hatch-A-Long 2017

Good luck!
I once had a broody at my farm, an hour away, kill her first 3 chicks. So I took the rest of the eggs, ready to hatch, and transported them back home in a butter bowl, between my thighs! Put them in my incubator and they hatched!

Don't you just hate when a broody goes homicidal maniac on you!

Yep, that was unreal to find. But she still wouldn't give up! So a week later, I finally gave her more eggs, as another hen was sitting next to her on eggs also. Together they hatched 2 and were great moms. I had to give her another chance, because i had to know if i should keep her or get rid of her. I'm glad it was a one time thing with her.

OK! Took 9 eggs out of the bator....then snuck the dark one back in. lol. 1 was clear, 1 was...cracked and solidified?!?!, the rest were early quitters with bloodrings. Eggtopsied them all -then cooked them up for the chooks to eat. lol

Hey Ya'll, so...this is my first attempted hatch using a Broody Hen. And I am a control freak, so this just has my stomach in knots. What if she isnt turning the eggs enough? What if they crack? What if the temperature isnt right? Its super humid in MD rightnow, inside and out, so what if the humidity is wrong??? Im freaking out
Broody hen will take care of all of it. They won't crack, they will be turned fine, momma provides the perfect heat, and humidity doesn't matter. Take a deep breath and DON'T touch the eggs!!!
