HALLOWEEN HATCH!!! Anyone

a little update with me. got home and found all my water gone and my hygromiter reading 20% humidity and 102 in my forced air LG. At first i was somewhat upset, but then remembered that i had about 6 to 7 instances in my last hatch where the temp/humid was off or not where it was suppose to be and i had a 85% hatch. So i removed the eggs...picked 2 at random and candeld them. From the air sac side i could make out lot's of red blood vessels..but from the other side i got nothing but blackness with no movement. Now last that happend i got on here freaking out thinking they had all died since i could not make anything out. When i was overwhelmed by a bunch of people here saying " that's normal...you have eggs full of baby chick in there...thats why you see no movement and everything is black" I was like "omg how dumb am i" lol. I had just thought the temp changes killed them.

So i took a deep breath....remembered what happened last time and then took the now 10 fertil eggs off the turner and onto the wire mesh bottom. Got my humidity up to the middle to upper 60's and now i am offically ready to rock! lol

Similar thing just happened here. I filled the water troughs last night and they were bone dry and the humidity was through the floor. I took the hatching tray out for just a moment to refill the water, since it is still early, when I noticed a pipped shell, then a noticed a beak sticking out of the egg beside him.

The beak egg was already a goner, but the pipped shell started peeping. I carefully enlarged his hole and helped him deshrink wrap a bit, so that when he's ready he should be able to get out by himself. I don't know what happened there. It's day 18. If anything, I had temps drop in the incubators after yesterday's power outage.

Edit: Humidity is only about 50%, even with the wet dish towel and extra water cup. I may have to add another dish towel, but right now, I'm afraid to do another thing to the bator. I want my little fuzzy yellow chick to hatch.

Another pip in another 10/8 egg. The LG is 102*F at egg height. Jeepers Creepers, what's going on with these peepers? Haven't they read my calendar? It says "Halloween Hatch 10/8 eggs" in the block that says October 29th.

maybe their mexican chickens and can only read spanish???

asylum, good luck with yours... i'm going to candle one last time and put in sponges as soon as i'm done eating...

Hey, you are gonna have the first baby of the year, I mean of the Halloween Hatch! What are ya gonna name him/her????

Oh, I am too excited. Here I am at work .... wondering how my humidity is at home. Now I am worried. I did not turn on the furnace yet ... and will not turn it on until this hatch is done.

Good luck!

I think Spooky would be a good name for my early bird, because he certainly scared the heck out of me when I saw that pip. The only ones I've ever had this early were teeny weeny mystery chicks (probably Japanese, maybe Serama). This is a standard Buff OrpingtonX.

I did not see this earlier...

No tackier than the times I cook chicken in the kitchen with the incubator on lock down. Junior's first breath in the world would happen to smell like...chicken parmesan.

*dances* Hatch them and raise them well. I want to hatch their children!
