Hands on hatching and help

Okay so I'm looking for the veins to be completely gone and it to yawn a lot? Otherwise just keep it oiled and warm? Should I be turning it at all? I even touched its bill earlier and it didnt move or talk. I put both in a basket till I could take out back. And I come back a little while later and its peeping at me. I feel like an idiot!

Yawning means it's still absorbing, so you want all the veins to be gone and for it to no longer be yawning. If you take all the shell over the air cell off leaving the internal membrane, when it is ready it should just push out on its own. Looking at that picture with those veins it seems to still have a while to go.

Okay! Just general idea on how long? It had broken through shell almost 48 hrs ago if that helps. The membrane is hard to the touch will that hinder it too much? I see a sleepless night ahead of me

Was it malpositioned or did it internally pip first? Apologies if you already mentioned this.

With the hard membrane, it might be stuck so you may end up needing to help it out when the time is right.

Personally, i don't think it will be much longer. The veins are still quite visible, but they are very thin, which is good. Is it wiggling at all? Like trying to get out?
