Hands on hatching and help

So my 4 broody hens failed miserably at raising ONE chick!!! I have the WORST mothers in the world!! The one pullet that has been sitting the longest (6 weeks) will NOT leave the nest and there is nothing under her. The other 3 that were sitting 1 week all took the baby out of the nest and out of the empty coop, down to the run and then ignored it 85% of the time. It hasn't stopped crying. I went out to water the ducks and I heard the baby screaming and it was flipped over on his back. One of the mothers stepped right on top of him to get by! I grabbed him, stuck him in my bra and setup the small brooder with stuffed animal chicks and a mirror. It drank like a fish! I bet it's the first drink it's had, ever. If it pulls through the next 24 hours I think it will be ok. It's about 72 hours old. I know I should have stepped in sooner but I was determined to let fate takes it course, which I couldn't do.
Im still not getting any of my notifications either. Byc said its AOL but I don't check any other of my email addresses so I don't know what to do.

Congrats on development!! I'm going to set 2 dozen eggs tomorrow. I actually checked my calendar first and saw I have something the Friday-Sunday that would be 3 weeks from this weekend. So I'll set Monday and keep temps at 99.5 and hope I don't get to many early hatchers.
So adorable! You did a great job! I read the whole thing! And from your other thread, you did great getting as many ducklings as you did! You'll be a pro next time you set duck eggs. :hugs
Aircells look big. I would increase your humidity and lockdown late.
Ok. How much humidity. I did increase it to 63% right now.

I'd love to see pics. I'd never heard of pinto so I had to Google it real quick. There lavender would be pied, not pinto, though, I believe. Purple is easy to distinguish from pied by the way the lines on the head go (purple has squiggles and pied has the same type markings as pearl gray).

I'll get some pictures, they are super cute! The lavender one that I believe to be a lavender pinto, not pied, has the same extreme pied markings as the regular pearl pintos. I will check the head lines on the possible royal purple and see if that's what it is or if it's pearl pied :)

Never heard of "pinto" in guineas, so I googled it, and if I read it correctly, a pinto is one that's mostly white? Would love to see some pictures.:pop

I wouldn't have been able to not step in either. Poor little chick. Hope it's ok. Yay for more eggs!
Can you make a different email and set it to foreward to your main email? I know some emails you can synchronize with others, not that I ever looked into how to do it...lol

That's a good idea about the email. I have a Hotmail & gmail but never use them. I'm going to look into that.

And the chick looks better already! Now he's hydrated and has access to chick starter and water. He's still crying here and there but not incessantly.

If you were at 35%, I would increase to 45-50% for the next few days. And lockdown maybe day 19-20ish depending on how close they look to internal pip.

:thumbsup

Oh, btw, I tagged you on a video I put up the other day of the silkies on fb. I know, the one that had the hurt leg and healed, a black is a boy, I have the very obvious paint that is and Blooie is a boy. So, far, those are the ones I am certain being Roos. There's 3 I am pretty sure are females and that leaves 5 I am still scratching my head on...lol The paint boy is a pain. He grabs ahold of me almost every time I go to put them in at night. One night he didn't want to let go. He's not on my favorite list...lol

Yep, mostly white with irregular colored markings - kinda like silver pied in peafowl, although not the same genes, of course. I'll get pictures of the little guys when I get home from work - they are super cute and I'm trying to get this batch to imprint on me - friendly guineas would be an anomaly, lol.

I have a couple that are relatively friendly but they were hatched and raised with turkeys.

These are pictures are of my 19-20 day old eggs. Is the air bubble to small? If so what should I do? They are at 55 humidity right now but will raise to over 65 tomorrow? (None of them internally piped yet)z . Also one of them is a bit smelly and has a very large but detached air bubble?

Broodies are something else, aren't they? Sorry you are having trouble with them. I'm glad you stepped in and got that chick out. Most of mine have been great, except for Maggie. She's still very bitchy and wont let anyone but me near her or her chicks. Any other chick that gets close gets attacked or chased off. She is very protective.

I did take the 8 orps that I hatched outside and gave them to the chocolate sisters. At first I thought they were going to share, but its looking more divided today. So we'll see.

I have no clue how to look for an internal pip
