So I will either set them tonight, or Friday morning.

I'm not sure if it was on this page or a different one but I read someone washes their chicks off if they r super gross as in covered in blood 1 and covered in scrambled yolk the other... I have tried to spot clean them w/ warm water and Q-tips but they still aren't fluffing and seem to be colder than the fluffers and being picked at any input exp would be appreciated this hatch has been a hot mess I thought there was a chain saw massacre from the one this morning ugh!!! And it's only about 1/2 over another whole day plus for the rest

I'm always behind and out of touch email came through today on this . I have had chicks so sticky that they are stuck together . Wings stuck to the head legs bent and stuck . Distilled water heated to 95 degrees in the microwave deep enough to cover the chick up to the neck. Let it soak to soften gentle rub the areas with a soft cloth . I do this under a heat lamp . The main thing is not to let the chick get chilled. I haven't had a problem either what ever you do remember to keep the chick warm . If the chick is active and not shivering its not a problem that its not fluffing. It just looks bad . Seven to ten days it will all be gone .

Thank you it's not a mess anymore but it's not doing the best it's so tiny it's legs do splits it's so small I tried to bandaid the legs last night and they are so little it wouldn't work it's not really eating getting bowled over by the chicks that hatched today already

The rubber self lining that I get from walmart to use in my incubator trays is great for chicks that do he splits like that . I had two last hatch that couldn't stand on the paper I use in the brooders so I put them back in the hatcher with small lids for feed and water in two days I was able to put them back in the brooder instead f culling them. The rubber self liner gives them something to grip to . Weaker chicks need to be kept separate from the other till they get stronger. Their the ones that end upon the bottom of the panic pile .

Thanks I use that for hatch but I'm going to put that in my brooder now too!! I lost one last night that was weak and was piled on top of!

I'm looking for talks best incubation ideas on settings?? Please, give me yer ideas on what's best? I've heard of dry incubation at first till hatch day. I think it was something like 30% humidity then 75% round hatchday. And have been told 99 degrees to keep it at. Please let me know how y'all have yer best success!

I do dry hatching with 30% humidity because that is what works best in my area, you may have to play around a bit to figure out what humidity is going to work best for you.

As for temperature, it should be 99.5 measured anywhere in a forced air incubator, or 101.5 measured at the top of the eggs in a still air.

If you have any trouble, I know someone who ships excellent quality Silkie eggs...I got eggs from her and I was extremely pleased with them and the resulting hatch.  Her name is @RubyNala97
 and she's awesome!!  :lau

Very funny :/......seriously, I've had people all over have good hatches with my eggs but I've bought so many batches of shipped eggs myself and they were a total bust!! Doesn't seem fair!! I'm very greatful to get these eggs in such good condition. I was hesitant to show the breeder the packing pics but boy am I glad I did!! And I always appreciate you giving me props!

That's a really good idea!! I definitely plan on trying this if/when I get a sticky chick again.

Can you get pics of the legs??

A lot of tips will depend on the type of eggs (breed, shipped vs local) and the type of incubator you use (model, still air vs forced air) and your location on the map. :)

I put them in at 6 a.m. this morning. I don't have the cradle turned on yet, although the air cells looked really good! Only one pretty saddled and a couple wobbly. But overall I am happy. I think I'll plug in the turner tomorrow or Sunday.

Can't remember if I posted here or not, but one of my Serama hens must have seen the mail delivery yesterday and decided she wanted to sit too, so I gave her 5 of the eggs. So between the Bator and the broody, I have 27 starting!

How many did you set?
