Hanging cabbages

I use a big J-hook lije you screw into the rafters to hang things from. Just screw it into the heart of the cabbage and hang it on the run wire. Hung it from a string once and they were afraid, very afraid.

LOL! Those pictures are so funny! Ok, now, do they like and eat cilantro??? Gave my little girls left overs from dinner with cabbage, black beans, other salad items and cilantro stems! I'm wondering what will be left over in the morning!!!

As mentioned before, just jab a fish stringer in and tie it off on a rafter, etc. easy peasy. My only problem being they won't eat it. I saw one hen peck it a few times and that was it. It has been in the run for four days, gonna have to remove it before long.

I didnt take photos, but i used white string from home depot ( the free stuff) drilled a hold in a whole head of cabbage, strung it up in their coop. the next morning only the rope remained. They also love cantalope, i put a half out and in hours it is gone

If they free range that could be why they aren't eating it. Mine will eat stuff like cabbage and lettuce in the winter months but when spring gets here and green stuff starts sprouting they could care less.
we bought our first watermelon yesterday, and even though I didn't think it had much flavor the chickens thought so...

I cut an X in the bottom of the core and tied a piece of thin twine around it, pushing the twine into the X, hung it from the rafter and they never "got it." They stared at it a bit, but never tried it. It was a very firm head with no loose leaves, so I'll loosen a few and try again. Silly chickens!
